Here is a prime example of how the mainstream media perpetuates this myth:
(Reuters)"Poor job creation is a headache for President Bush as he seeks re-election in November. The economy -- specifically job creation -- is expected to be a key issue in the campaign. Since Bush took office, more than 2.3 million non-farm jobs have been lost."
Bull Sh*t! We have to break this cycle, and we have to break it now!
Take action!

I've seen the evidence that for his entire last year in office, Clinton was leaning heavily on Treasury and Commerce to cook the books to make it look like the economy was still perking along even though things were unraveling back then.
It may take a decade or two for the actual history to be written, but Bill Clinton's dozens of criminal and treasonous activities while in the White House will eventually be revealed.

I've been talking about this, here, for a very long time and especially on FR's threads posted by the goldbug doom&gloomers.

I'm not much of an economist, but believe that, although WJC's leftist policies likely exacerbated the job situation, laxk of jobs are not entirely his fault, just as the dot.com-tech boom that made us all so much money, and provided jobs during his administration (temporarily, at least) was not to his credit.
The tech bubble was bound to burst, no matter who the president. IMO, though, when it did burst, it burst that much harder, and economic recovery has been that much more difficult, because Clinton massively increased the tax burden the economy has had to bear.
Beating up on business, and increasing regulation over such things as wage and price, which seems to be the Democrat plan for "job creation," will not create jobs, but destroy even more than already have been lost.
My personal opinion is that more tax cuts would stimulate more jobs faster than anything, of course that is the one thing no Democrat wants, quite the reverse.
Increasing taxes, which they do want, might provide more government bureaucratic jobs, or more jobs for those to whom government awards contracts, but perhaps the Democrats are forgetting that those jobs must be paid for by taxing those who work in the private sector.
Am I right in imagining that the GWB tax cuts have not been sufficient to roll back the WJC tax increases?

You could have added that Clinton/Gore started to drain the strategic petroleum reserve to force gas prices lower. The selling of this oil "lowered the budget deficit" and helped with "inflation".
Of course, GWB has refilled the reserve by buying oil "adding to the deficit".
