The Super Bowl halftime show has gone steadily downhill since the year it featured Michael Jackson, surrounded by children, continually grabbing his crotch as he danced. Well, good news: odds are we won't see that again!!

You think then he might've been trying to imply some sort of a qualitative assessment ??
Maybe he just has a higher standard than most.

See lady lawyer's post 17.
Been to any Muslim countries lately, gentlemen?

I was out of the room during the "reveal" (to me, "halftime show" means "Time for some more coffee and a sandwich") so I couldn't offer an opinion. I can't see past all those squiggles Fox puts over her boob, either...:-).
Fortunately, my kids were out of the room, too. I heard "featuring P.Diddy" and that was all I needed to know.

Far more graphic incidents occur every day of the week on HBO, Showtime, MTV, and even on some network programs.Big difference here. One expects to see unsavory, offensive content there and one is usually warned up front and can plan to avoid the program....
To: GigaDittos
Then why don't you walk around naked all the time.
I prefer to look at boobs, not be a boob myself.

IGNORE IT!!?? Shame on him!
Two more things my children DO NOT need to see on tv-
1. Mutilated nudity
2. A man ripping a woman's clothes off

In the last 10 years I've been to Turkey, Egypt, Kosovo, and Somalia.
What I've seen is a facade of morality.
Covering women with Burkas, and circumsizing adolescent girls sounds like oppression and sexual repression to me.
I've also been to Bahrain and Dubai, Muslim enclaves where the Arab "family men" go to drink and consort with whores.
Those who have private jets, go to London, Paris, Geneva and Zurich.
Hard to convince me they have any moral high ground here.

All I can say is this is what the discussion is about, and not some massive attack from plane or whatever on the Superbowl stadium. Well, I wish people were talking about that phenomenal game instead of this, but you're right. We could be sitting here saying, "Let's avenge those thousands of deaths" instead, and wondering if any freepers got killed.

Maybe they do contain silicone, but you have no proof. Oops, that was supposed to be a reference to movies, but you probably would have grasped that if I'd been smart enough to include the word "movie" somewhere in my post. :-)
No slight against Miss Jackson's rack was intended.
No breasts, silicone or otherwise, were harmed in the production of this post.

I suppose that sort of judgment is best left in the eye of the beholder.
To: GSWarrior
My reaction, too. However, just the fact that they carry that stuff does bleed into the culture and may have some causation of the Jackson/Timberlake sort of thing. I mean, some of the ads my my local cable service runs cite Sex and the City as the principle reason one would upgrade to digital--you get something like 500 channels and these guys figure, "the only reason someone would want that is so they can look at Kim Catrall's crotch." Um, yeah, sure guys. And I really dig the Sex and the City themed ads during the family hour!

Since it's not big deal, I challenge you to put yours on display. I don't have any, hence the "Mister" in "Mr. Silverback." :-)
Go back and read the whole conversation between me and Skip. We're not saying this was no big deal, we're having some laughs.

You have to wonder why it is that those who worry that our mere existence offends radical Islamic cultures arent doing more to fight this kind of cultural rot? Because we remember our history, and don't expect appeasement to work any better for us than it did for the upper-class twit with the umbrella.

Here's something else....how long before charges of racism are raised against the FCC, TVC and others who are expressing anger and disapproval. You know...white America just doesn't get it...it's all about suppressing gangsta rap and black culture.
This will happen, I bet. Someone will turn this into a race issue.
To: Jim Cane
I keep hearing de-testicled wonders like this, fretting over offending the muslim "culture". If it pi$$es them off, I say Janet Jackson should go on television every night at 8 PM and juggle her untamed hoochies in the wind. GMTA.
"Radical Islamic Cultures" can get over it. Or they can die when we are forced to wipe them out in self-defense. It's their choice.

When the Islamic revolutionaries overthrew the Shah of Iran in 1979, the U.S. embassy was actually the second building they occupied. The first building they sacked was the Tehran offices of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. That's fascinating. I've never heard this before.
