I like discovering new people...especially, when it contradicts or disrupts current opinions.

Ancient writings on the caves gave directions to the large land mass to the north, and specific instructions on how to sneak in there, and then apply for amnesty.

Like Kennewick Man...who has no American Indian features!

So Patrick Stewart's ancestor was a native American!! But seriously, native American is just as much a misnomer as indian, and is, in fact, a forced, overnight coinage. IMHO, names like indian for American indians are in no way derogatory (albeit originally inaccurate), lend color to the language, and reflect the history of American English. They need not be forcibly expunged.

"I have an ancient culture...still living...in my fridge."

Yup, me too...but, they have been well studied and would not qualify for another grant.

Think the Spanish have any guilt trip about what happened to the Aztecs?

The Spanish shouldn't have any guilt feelings about conquering the Aztecs (with the help of the Indians they were liberating). Read Bernal Diaz's account sometime. The Aztecs were the Baathists of the New World.

When Mexico becomes wealthier, Mex.liberals will start romanticizing the natives there just as "Native" Americans can do no wrong these days here (all whitey's fault...).

It's difficult to reconcile using the word "civilization" with people who kept the bodies of children sacrificed to the "rain god" in barrels.

And their art is as crude as their practices.

Can't use 'dozens' in the metric system. Rules violation--reactionary. Grounds for deportation from France.
