Thanks for the article! I'm one of those "women of thirty years ago," and it did work.
....hmmm....maybe it's time to drag that one out again...

The grapefruit diet of 30 years ago was a low carb diet, much like Atkins. That's the primary reason it worked.

A 3.6lb weight loss over three months? Doesn't sound very impressive. Most obese people need to lose 100 pounds or more. Would take them years and I doubt they could go that long eating grapefruit at every single meal.

"Thanks for the article! I'm one of those "women of thirty years ago," and it did work." I remember some of the girls years ago that ate grape fruit, they complained about it affecting their teeth...any experience with that?

I had to quit the grapefruit diet because every time I took a pee I squirted myself in the eye.

"Doesn't sound very impressive." I was impressed by the insulin impact.

I need to lose an inch in my waist to fit in my ski pants. Going away for a ski trip in a few weeks so time to get serious. Looks like I might add grapefruit to my diet.

Something interesting:
Grapefruit juice does slow the metabolism of a number of drugs, which will raise the effective level of the drug. An example is the calcium channel blockers used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiovascular conditions.

I wonder if it's okay to add vodka to the grapefruit juice!

I've been on an extended grapefruit diet. Haven't touched on in 10 years. Hasn't helped yet.
To: Auntbee
I think it is.
I just needed to ditch the holiday 'plumping', and it's nearly all gone after 5 days of choking down ruby reds, which I actually love but not in this amount.
