"Everything gets scrutinized to the nth degree."

...everything but lip-biting, cigars, phone sex, bodies in Ft. Marcy Park...

Has the professor analyzed any of that?

(Or, for that matter, O'Kneel's behavior in and out of office)

Grandiosity, rigidity, and intolerance of ambiguity....all-or-nothing thought patterns... alchoholism

Funny, these terms are how liberals typically describe conservatives. They call our belief in Right and Wrong, "rigidity" and an "intolerance of ambiguity", and they'd like nothing better than to persuade us to give up our "all or nothing" moral ideas.

Yes George W Bush may be the victim of grandiose delusions. Why, he may even believe he is President of the United States!
Professor Wormer, on the other hand, labors under the delusion that she knows exactly why the president went to war, set new goals for NASA, etc.

helps persons with addictive tendencies to curb the tendency to excess.

How can you excessively curb a tendency? This sentence is very poorly structured. And isn't this the same woman who was obsessing about Bush's history with the bottle two years ago? Perhaps she is displaying obsessive tendencies about Bush, perhaps someone should curb her to excess.

Rigid? Fixated? Detail-obsessed? The question is, in comparison to whom? Wes Clark? Howard Dean? Jimmy Carter? Michael Dukakis? Lyndon Johnson? Robert McNamara? There are a lot of criticisms that can be made of President Bush and his Iraq adventure, but this one is weak. The "obsession" with Iraq (if that's what it is) isn't Bush's alone -- indeed, it doesn't look like it's Bush's at all. It's something a significant part of the governing class has developed -- not as revenge for plots against the elder George Bush, but as a "solution" to Middle East problems. It's hard to say now if it will work or not, but the "dry drunk" thesis is ridiculous.

Actually, I think a dry drunk is an alcoholic that no longer drinks, but doesn't not drink for the right reasons, that is, does not actively pursue the 12 steps as a life style. The theory is that a dry drunk is bad because they haven't fully embraced the recovering addict orthodoxy and are thus more likely to take up the addiction again, and are less likely to fork over money to charlatans like the author of this drivel.

This drivel is a good example of the nonsense Thomas Szasz spent a career challenging--the use of therapeutic language to disguise what are, in fact, moral judgements.

It is rather obvious to me who the "dry-drunk" is. This author reads like she is on a real binge. More likely a real wet-drunk. Since these psychology types analyze each other periodically, it would be a hoot to listen in on her brain probe session. The liberal obsession with Pres Bush shows their inability to face the reality that he is a success at life and they fear they are not. God bless Pres Bush.

Good points. This charlatan propagandist masquerading as an an professor (with her bogus social work PhD) makes up a complete fiction about President Bush.

She ignores the complete loony bin of dwarfs running as democrats: Kucinich, Sharpton, Clark, and Dean. These are obvious whack jobs and she is hallucinating about Dubya?

The dry drunk quits drinking, but his or her obsession with the bottle is often replaced with other obsessions.

Does this explain certain leftists' obsession with George W. Bush?

Yeeeeeessssssssssssss!!!!!!!One "MONSTER SIZED" BUMP!!!

Its been my observation of most addiction counselers...

...If you don't fit neatly as a round peg into their round hole, they will hammer and hatchet on you until you do fit into their hole.

A large number are also addicts who became obsessed with curing others after they cleaned up. You could have a million underlying reasons for chemical abuse. But in their world, you clean up from alcohol or drugs, everything is just peachy. Some will even tell you that with a straight face while they're smoking their 3rd pack of cigarettes that day.

have been shown to be without substance

As usual another case of classic projection. I stopped reading at this line and it really applies to the author not Bush.
