I say CHEERS !! to them.
Thanks for your interesting comments. You're in good company. I remember hearing Candace Lightner, the original grass roots founder of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), quit when the professional paid lobbyists took over and started pressing for oppressive prohibition type actions such as limiting BAC to .05. I don't know the real truth behind it, but this site suggests she didn't believe in making all drinkers who drive criminals by driving down the BAC limits in laws. That site quotes her, "Half of the drunk drivers involved in fatal crashes have a BAC of .17 or greater" she commented in Moderation Reader. These are the criminals we should be focusing our attention on. As Lightner says in Ibid, "Putting our trust in new laws and regulations that only address the tip of the iceberg will not make our highways safer."
There are also tobacco control advocates like Luc Martial, who once lobbied for Non-Smokers Rights Association of Canada and and even worked in the Health Canada Tobacco Control Programme, who quit on principle because of his disagreement with the way such programs developed under the control of health "extremists". He's still very much for tobacco control, but he's been censured by tobacco control advocates for pushing for reasonable solutions and now for having "crossed over" to the enemy. It's interesting how we rarely hear about people like them in the mainstream press.
I'll be one of the first to agree there needs to be sensible and reasonable actions taken to minimize exposure to folks such as yourself so that we all can enjoy life as we see fit. However, the zero-tolerance pushed for and the outright hate preached by the professional paid control freaks has gotten way out of hand.
Thanks again.
