Having done time in both leather and mail, I can tell you there's a reason cows didn't evolve chain-mail skin.

Glad you like them!
I have no clue where the "also rans" are, but we are getting all SORTS of good things on this thread. ( Helen Thomas being the obvious exception!) Freepers are very creative, resourceful people!

That's Helen Thomas? I thought it was his lab who'd put his face through the fence.

I can't tell.
fifth-essence.com seems to be locked. their title page just has a graphic and a definition. Trying to access the archive gets denied. Got the link from a friend.

On the lights of the world, check out how South Korea looks like an island, because
North Korea is in darkness. Cuba is barely a glimmer.

Seriesly, how do you show the example? Put the tag <xmp> before your HTML string and the tag </xmp> after your HTML string and it "turns off" the HTML code so the example shows up as typed:

There are 2 ways to accomplish that. The way mfulstone did it was to use the character sets < and > to represent the carets without actually triggering the usual auto-HTML.
The other way is to use the XMP tag within carets.
So I can say
<img src="http://www.freerepublic.com/images/frlogo.gif">
using the character set, or
<img src="http://www.freerepublic.com/images/frlogo.gif">
using the XMP tag.

use the character sets < and > That's cool to know. I've always used < and > for the left and right carets.
