"The massahs were Democrats. The whip-toting overseers were Democrats. The Klansmen were Democrats. The filibusterers of the Civil Rights bills in the 1960's were Democrats. The liberals whose welfare-state policies destroyed families in post- Great Society inner cities were Democrats. That such a party gets to claim the allegiance of so many African-American voters is one of the great con jobs of all time" - Now ain't that the truth.

I paused in mid column just now and did some rough math, which suggests that somewhere between a quarter and a third of all Democrats are African-Americans. It is quite possibly more than a third of the votes for Democrats come from blacks. I have never seen this number publicized, but I am sure it is known.
To: RockDoc
Of course, it is politically-correct dogma that one cannot be an African-American politician without accepting most of the ideas of Karl Marx, who was (boo, hiss), a white European male. Go figure.

This is why if you could chip away even 10 more percent of the black vote away from the Democrats, without losing your base, the Democrats would be doomed.

Carol Moseley Braun is the only African-American Democrat ever to serve in the United States SenateYes, and her constituents in Illinois threw her corrupt rearend out of office then the "noble" media felt the politically correct need to "reinvent" and "rehabilitate" her back into political respectibility.

>>White Republicans have no problem whatsoever voting for black Republicans, when they can find one to vote for.
He's got that right. Many GA FReepers, black and white, intend to do just that; Herman Cain is a heckuva candidate.
If we manage to get him through the primaries, I just hope we can get black Georgians to vote for him in numbers. That would be a truly historic event.

The Democratic Party supported physical slavery during the Civil War (and to an extent afterward - remember their record on civil rights during the 1960's - it was the Republicans that passed the Voting Rights Act, not the Dems).
Now the Democratic Party supports slavery of the economic sort - Marxism.
At least they've been ideologically consistent.

When I look at the blatant black racism of the Black Congressional Caucus in the House, I am kinda glad we dont have any Black Democratic Senators.

I heard about her corruption and ethics charges. Do you have the details? I'm just curious.

ask a Republican and a Democrat about Alan Keyes. The Republican will say, "he's a smart guy and I like his values, etc." The Democrat will say, "he's that black guy token for the Republican party, etc."

Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Colin Powell, Condi Rice and Alan Keyes. Do the Democrats have any blacks with such intellectual capcity? Could the black community be rejecting these individuals because they are Republicans or because of the intellectual abilities? Remember academic achievement is a white thing.

This is why if you could chip away even 10 more percent of the black vote away from the Democrats, without losing your base, the Democrats would be doomed. There are only two ways to chip away at the so called "black vote":
1) Pander with the promise of entitlement expansion - in which case the conservative base dwindles.
2) Expose the "black vote" to conservative principles. Which is a pretty tough proposition given the obstacles - the latter of which are stereotypical - like the socialist mindset of instructors in higher education and education in general. The leftward slanted mainstream media. A gravitation by blacks toward well compensating government jobs. The us versus "the man" mentality. And, an urban culture that relentlessly "teaches" that being educated is "selling out" and that drugs, promiscuous sex, and violence is glamorous.

WOW, I had never thought of that! She is the only one. And they CLAIM to be the party FOR the minorities! They don't walk the walk, they only talk the talk.

Oh, Democrats will let African-Americans serve in the House of Representatives, but only after carefully carving out black-majority, which is to say segregated, districts for them. Well, you can't expect white Democrats to vote for one of them, can you? Oh ouch. Now that's saying something really ugly about the democratic party. Not that it's news to us.

So the Democratic Party's policy, throughout the modern, post-World War II era has been to create separate-but-equal congressional districts. Keep blacks in the ghetto the urban plantation. The late Gov. Wallace would be proud. The democrats couldn't get away with it at the school house, but it's worked out just fine for them.
Democrat party ... party of the KKK and proud of it.

glockmeister40,
I had heard that she used campaign funds for a vacation trip to Africa with her boyfriend?. I performed a search on Google and found nothing. Unbelieveable, like it never existed. The voters of Illinois voted her out that's all that counts.

Another way to look it it is in modern times, It's two terms for a black Republican [Edward Brooke] and only one for a black Democrat [Carol Moseley Braun].

White Democrats will only accept black leaders who agree to keep blacks down. And most blacks go along with this, because everyone has been told that keeping blacks down is a shiny, pretty gift of "help."
All colors of Republicans want everyone to be judged on his own merits, no matter what their past has been like. Can you get there (legally) on your own two feet? Great! Who cares what you look like? And we are called the racists. Paging George Orwell.
