I guess I'm saying if the chruches show enough leadership, it won't matter whether the "state" blesses homosexual marraige, as there will be so many people drawn to the church to lead faithful lives, those who want to engage in homosexual marriage will be a total abberation. Bottom line, if the church is doing it's job, it won't matter.
And yes, I do agree that homosexuals are in many ways attempting to hijack morality. But again, if the church and it's followers are doing their job, they won't have any affect. They would never get traction in the population if the church could and would clearly live up to it's own principals. If such were the case, you'd have more people seeking the "truth" rather than sucumbing to pressure groups like the gays.
The church can't make that claim and is losing ground, hearts, minds and souls because of it.

Well lets put it this annie! You better try real hard to understand him because not to understand him is a sure one way ticket to you know where.
To: Dubya
I think He would say, "Let the dead bury the dead."

Excellent comment, ItB. Jesus Christ didn't come to start a religion. He came to redeem us from sin.

Well lets put it this annie! What does this mean? Is English your first language? And if you are referring to the Lord in your later remarks, "Him" is capitalized when one is referring to deities. Just an FYI>

With all due respect, I agree with you in that He says His thoughts and ways are higher than ours (meaning that, compared to His mind, mine is like an amoeba's - or even less).
However, I believe His view is spelled out very clearly in His word regarding the things He wants us to be perfectly clear about (i.e., homosexuality).
Regarding the things He hasn't written about (e.g., smoking, television, using a cell phone while driving :), I think we can still have a pretty good idea how He would have us handle them.
To presume we can know the mind of God is not blasphemy - its an invitation. 1 Cor 2:16 says "we have the mind of Christ." To lay hold of that awesome promise while still practicing humility, loving our enemies, and loving our neighbors as ourselves is the walk of "fear and trembling".
Blessings on you.

And if you are referring to the Lord in your later remarks, "Him" is capitalized when one is referring to deities. Just an FYI>WRONG! Capitalizing the Divine pronoun is an entirely OPTIONAL thing in devotional language. While some of the more modern translations, like the NASB, capitalize the Divine pronoun, note that the King James Version and the New International Version do not.

I have numerous gay friends who are quite religious.Tares among the wheat.
No doubt there are "religious" pedophiles.

If the church is doing its job, it won't matter...have any effect.Seen NBC lately? "Will and Grace?" "Queer Eye...?"
Do you have any kids in public schools?
Have you opened a magazine or attended a movie recently or seen an ad on the side of a city bus?
It all has the accumulative effect of numbing the masses and undermining commonly-held Judeo-Christian ethics.
Just like the sodomites intend.

annyokie has "numerous friends who are quite religious."
SO WHAT?
The title and subject of this thread is FIRST PERSON: 'Gay Marriage': What would Jesus say?
annyokie hasn't attempted to speak for Jesus, nor has she "endorsed" gay marriage or the gay lifestyle.
What's the point of yall lecturing annyokie about her friends? So what if her friends think they're religious or if annyokie thinks they're religious?
>>> What would Jesus say about homosexual marriages? The same thing He would say about adultery and premarital sex. "Go back and read the Owner's manual ... then have a good time." <<<

As I said, if the church (I'm speaking not only of leadership but membership also) was doing it's job, then the population wouldn't be paying attention to those types of shows and instead would be focused on things Godly. Instead of the shows propogating, they would be dying on the vine.
My ex who by the way is the one who told me she did what she did because of faith and grace was a faithful fan of Will and Grace. Why would a Godly person watch such a show? Because in reality, she wasn't Godly. However, her church, while not approving of the show was strangely silent on such topics. They might touch on it in a sermon, but if someone said something like 'I watch Queer Eye or Will and Grace' there would be no concern expressed. You know, can't stop the money flow......
Again, if the church was doing it's job, then people would be drawn to it instead of Will and Grace.
To: annyokie
Try learning about the subject before you try to debate it.
It's obvious you and the LORDS house are not in the same neighborhood.
To: onyx
Finally We have an expert on the Owners manual.
Open your owners manual find the pages where it tells you claiming to be religious doesn't get you anywhere. In fact Saddam Hussein is claiming religion.
To: annyokie
I simply read what is written that was said....it is VERY SIMPLE:
Jesus SAID: "He (God) made them MAN and WOMAN......they shall leave mother and father and JOIN in marriage." Jesus did NOT say, He made them Man and Man and Woman and Woman. You don't have to be very smart to understand this.
Jesus SAID, speaking of religious people, that in the final judgement they would brag of how religious they were, how they did things for the poor and gave prophecy in His name, but he NEVER knew them, and will command them to DEPART (sends them to HELL)...because they were never BORN AGAIN...which JESUS said (not Falwell, not me) they MUST do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
The MIND of God is found in the Bible and in the words of Christ. If you can PROVE me wrong...go for it.
To: chachacha
How sanctimonious of you. It is none of your business what another person "believes" or doesn't "believe."
Your attitude in not Christian. Not at all. Try praying for the wayward and lost; and while you're at it, ask God to grant you a little humility.
Have a blessed Sunday.

I will pray for you and annie.
My Sunday will be blessed now that I touched a nerve.
I don't judge he does. It is a mistake to think one can't judge another by what they say and do.
I don't judge a person until they do an indifference to what I know the "OWNERS MANUAL" actually says.
I never judge the final destination of any person but, I will defend the "OWNERS MANUAL" when spat upon.
To: joesbucks
I guess this comes under the category of "fish rot from the head down."
So I'd have to agree with your post. The pity is so many are "strangely silent."

So the question is how does the church renew and reinvigorate itself without becoming radical warriors for Christ?
?Nothing turns me and hundreds of others off more than those who impose rather than lead me to the correct way of life and living His will rather than our will. I know some respond to radicalism, but most don't. Most are turned off by how those concerned about the decline of our culture is being handled by the followers of Christ. That blood will be on our hands and souls forever. We've got to find the middle road between radicalism and the willy nilly ways of most churches.
