Granny Annie's promise to veto any Concealed Carry bill that reached her desk, and GW's promise to sign the same bill is what cost her her job. Once she proved that she was proud that she didn't trust the people who hired her, she was on her way out.
Why "cut the old lady a break" to someone that evil? Waco was under her watch, and she never had a problem with it.

Her excessive drinking comments by Clayton Williams lost him the election as she played it against him... Perhaps to a degree, but Clayton Williams' "joke" about bad weather and rape and his response afterward cost him that election. It is the only time that I have voted for someone with sheer and utter disgust. I would NEVER have voted for Grannie, but have often wonder if I should have cast my vote at all. Clayton Williams was the smallscale version of Howie "Foot-in-Mouth" Dean.

Didn't George W. Bush become the first REPUBLICAN governor
of TEXAS in 100 years?? !!
No..... William Clements was elected for two different terms prior to George Bush.... I think Mark White served the term between his two terms.

I remember one line from Moby (not the "artist") on KLOL Houston when Ma Richards was elected governor (1990):
Ann Richards has already named ten to her new cabinet. Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Johnny Walker, and the Seagrams Seven.

Her east coast ties today are based upon employment as far as I know it.... She heads up the New York City office of Public Strageties Inc which was founded in Texas by Jack Martin who was a top dog with Lloyd Bentson for many years.... They have some 20 offices in three countries. She also was and maybe still is associated with a law firm in D.C. I think she went there first prior to Public Strageties....

She also lost in 1994 when she ran a relentlessly negative campaign- calling GWB Shrub, saying that he "lost his little Herbert", etc.- and Bush ran on the issues. People were turned off by her nastiness. She thought it was cute.
I will never forget Grannie at an elementary school and a kid asked her why she was so mean to George Bush all the time. She laughed and said, "Aw, sonny, you just gotta learn that's what politics is all about." All her entourage laughed too, and Bush refused to respond to the incident. He won. She lost, and apparently continues to lose.

My X-mother-in-law used to draw eyebrows like that! This brings back old memories.

I didn't know that and is Vadmir Posner still alive? I haven't heard that name in years! I saw him whining about that commercial on some tv show (Donahue?). It was sweet :)

Bill Clements was the first post-Reconstruction Republican governor, I think. Of course, Allan Shivers did lead the Texas Democrats for Eisenhower in 1952. (I don't know if Dolph Briscoe is still a Democrat though.)

Annie's back on the sauce it seems, with an endorsement of Ol' Doc Dean, she doesn't need to take a Breathalyzer;)
To: Vision
Did Dean just say high school kids are going to decide Iowa?
Probably so, the idiot.

Thanks. I don't know the originator of it. I got it from a news letter to a group to which I belong.
