If all the jobs are going overseas, how come the Mexicans aren't following them? Are they even too mundane for the Mexicans?

That should be the corporate spin on offshoring to India/China - "Yea, uh, these were jobs that even the illegal Mexicans didn't want to do".

Thanks for the links, but I'm not convinced (yet) that there is a massive "out-sourcing" and/or "exporting" of U.S. jobs...more information is definitely needed!

I don't usually watch Lou Dobbs, and while I don't doubt that the "Exporting America" site list is accurate regarding companies who have done "overseas hires", there are no "numbers" shown...my question would be whether these companies are "expanding" overseas, or whether they're moving their entire base operations there, in which case they should no longer be "eligible" to be considered "American corporations"...

The key number I think would be "jobs retained" or "replacement jobs created" in the US...I would also say that many folks can be "fired at will", including me and my spouse, because we work for other people's businesses...it's just a choice to trust the employer or not, but I don't think most folks have "guaranteed employment" unless they're union workers or 3-year-tenured (!) public school teachers.

Remember in the heat of "evil corporation" rhetoric that the now-infamous Ken Lay contributed rather largely to Bill Clinton's campaigns, and if we are to remain free, our employers must also be free to chose how they run their businesses, "fair" or not...we have laws to deal with unethical and/or criminal behavior, which must be enforced (and will be, under this administration) but further federal regulation is almost never going to be a good thing (IMHO)...most of the time I don't think this should be the role of the government, although I would certainly "activate" on these issues...

(it's a short step from "primary law enforcement seat belts" to "primary law-enforced jobs", "enforced fair wages", "universal health care", and etc...)
