I remember awhile back Dr. Lee said the key to the defense case is the age of Connor - he strongly insinuated that they would be able to successfully argue that Laci lived for a time after she was "kidnapped" because the baby was older. It could be a battle of the experts on gestational age.

I believe I am correct in saying that the last ultra sound taken was in Sept. If that be the case, they will have a very hard time using that to calculate the age of Connor.

julie I remember ANOTHER appearance by the great Dr. Lee where he stated that one of the most important things was going to be WHAT LACI was wearing!! Also, how stupid do they think we are? IF(?) Laci were killed and thrown in the Bay and then Connor was killed weeks later and thrown in the Bay - WHY would they wash up at the same time in approximately the same location? NO WAY Does Geragos have a case. He's pure bluster. Nancy Grace said on LKL tonight that there is only ONE way to determine the EXACT age of a fetus - it's a calcium bone test. And I gleaned that that test had NOT been done as yet. The Prosecution will have opposing experts anyway and with all the other stuff that the Defense cannot overcome - I'm expecting the Prosecution to win.

I caught the last of that interview on Paula Zahn last night. I heard this former Prosecutor and I was just delighted to actually hear someone experienced finally SAY IT!!

no I DIDN'T notice that. I was just so thrilled listening to him. He's a GOOD Prosecutor. I doubt him and Harris would have been assigned this case if they were not experienced trial Lawyers. Lawyers that have tried many capital cases. You can tell that Distaso ALSO is very sharp on his points of law. I do hope Girolami stays with the case.

I agree Neenah. The ultra sound results were an estimate ONLY. Besides, as early as December 14th, Laci's girlfriends stated that she was having trouble breathing and her feet and hands were swollen. I believe she truly was farther along than the estimated 32 weeks and the ultra sound was TWO FULL MONTHS before!! I think the autopsy Dr. said 33 to 38 weeks BUT they had NOT either X-rayed the baby yet or done the calcium bone test!!

I know, pinz, but they offered it as a basis for this "expert's" testimony. This bogus survey is now firmly entrenched in the record as something which was brought in by the defense, through its witness. Don't forget, a witness' testimony is evidence!

As for Geragos probably having taken pains to see that he had no traceable fingerprints on the survey, I know you are right about that--IF Geragos DID know before Schoenthaler's testimony that the survey was likely a fraud.

Schoenthaler's already moving to quash subpoenas and SDT's to him. Guess he thinks he could just sally in there, throw a wrench into the proceedings with his fraudulent survey, then move on and not be bothered.

Yeah, Geragos is trying to float some theory that Laci was killed weeks after she went missing... AS IF. Maybe he plans to say Laci was traipsing around following a cult leader, covered in a long robe and a mask. I don't think that happens too often, Elizabeth Smart notwithstanding.

Laci's cervix was intact. Geragos has a big hurdle with that issue as well.

Yes, so Geragos seems to want to say that the baby was weeks older when he died than when his mother went missing? Which means the theory is that someone held Laci for weeks b/f killing her? But by sheer coincidence, when they DID finally kill her, she just happened to be wearing the very same tan maternity pants she was wearing the last time she was reliably seen alive the day b/f she went missing?
