{You have to couch these pro-business policies in ways that make a direct appeal to the people:....Unless people can see the immediate and direct appeal to them, these abstract policy proposals are meaningless and possibly seen as counter to their interests.}
Good points. This why political ideologues and 3rd party candidates fail to win general elections.

By the way, I've known and worked with Richard for a long time. You will not find a better man. I don't think anyone on here would argue with that. But political rematches have a very low record of success, and Vinroot has very little support around the state for another go at the governorship.

Ouch. He's a good guy, by all accounts, and he's done a lot of work for the party. I also think he'd make a good nominee -- great contrast with Easley, makes him look like a little sissy-boy.
But some things are not to be.
