And the greatness of the Cowboys smokes all your teams with 5 wins in 8 trips.

Agreed, I have been listening to Philly sports radio for the last couple of days and most callers and the on air people think the article is tasteless and immature. It is a very small percentage of Philly fans that behave the way the media portrays them. Of course most people outside of Philly love to knock them because is seems the neat thing to do.

The Packers have won 6 NFL Championsips in 8 finals since the Cowboys came into the league in 1960.

"This piece is just a (partly) tongue-in-cheek attempt to get the fans riled up."

I don't think it takes much to get Phils fans riled up. And they certainly don't need any help from a sportswriter. Some of this is fun stuff but when it gets into the personal, then it's over the top. To quite a few of us Packer fans this is old news, and it just doesn't do any good to dredge up old news.

If you want to count NFL Championships then I am sure the Browns or Bears would hold that record with all the championships they won in the 30's and 40's. Since the Superbowl is about the modern era of football the Packers have been to 4 Superbowls and won 3. The Cowboys have been to 8 and won 5. The first superbowl was played in 1967. You were the one quoting superbowls before but now that some other team is better than yours it is now NFL Championships.

"I have 3 favorite Packer moments. First is the picture of Favre laying down like a little girl so Strahan could sack him to set the sack record. The second one is the one where Favre is setting on the bench with a towel over his head after the 6th INT versus STL in the playoffs 2 years ago. The last one is the one where Favre is at the podium saying he had a drug problem."

I would think that an 82nd ABN GulfWar vet would have more class than that.
Cheers!

Wrong. The Packers' 12 NFL Championships are the league record. Da Bears have 9 NFL Championships, and one Super Bowl. I shouldn't go on but I can't help myself. The Packers' 24-12 post-season mark is the best of all-time, and the Green and Gold is also the only team in the league to win 3 consecutive championships, and they did it twice - '29-'31 and '65-67. Finally, since '92, '93, '94, '95, '96, and '97, the Packers have the best record in the NFL.

The Packers' legacy in professional football is matched only by the Yankees in baseball and Celtics in basketball.

I agree with you. Good natured ribbing is one thing - - slash and burn (over a freakin' football game!) is another. Please see post #177.

This is the second rude, crude and socially unacceptable article from Philadelphia about Farve that Ive seen today. Are all Philly sports writers a$$holes or what?

It will be a real pleasure watching Green Bay kick the beagles arses Sunday.

The Green Bay Packers have won 12 NFL Championships in 15 finals. The Cleveland Browns have won 4 Championships in 9 tries, and the Bears have won 6 Championships in 11 tries.

Anything else you are "sure" of that you want to share with the group?

"was impressed with the hardy souls who weathered the elements."

I and my girl friend were two of those hardy souls sitting 48 rows up in sec 103 for the Seahawks game. At the niners game back in Nov, I talked with a guy who had come over to the section I was in from one of the club seating sections. He said it was boring as heck. Couldn't hear any crowd noise on the inside. I came to the conclusion that if one wants to sit inside for a game (of any kind)at a stadium then they should just stay at home, pull up an easy chair and watch it on a big screen HDTV. There's nothing like being part of the crowd and being inside would be, for me at least, too far removed from the game.

Apparently you don't realize that the NFL didn't exist until the Cowboys won their first Super Bowl. ;^)

I'm going to give the Cowboys an 5-5 NFL Championship record, having lost to the Packers in 1966 and 1967 when the Super Bowl was a AFL-NFL matchup. So, certainly, the five losses put the Cowboys into rarefied air.

I agree completely - I greatly prefer being down in the stands for a game, and really enjoyed it last week.

But at least for one game this year, I envied the folks in the boxes because I couldn't get the Queen meltdown on in my living room.
