"The bill also makes the names of permit holders in each county available to reporters who ask a sheriff's department for the names."

Weird wording? Why do reporters get special rights? Does this mean only reporters or can anyone ask for the info?

BTW I think this is bad because then if anyone can get the info criminals could do checks to see who carries and who doesn't.

"Hidden gun bill" is this the new liberal term to make "concealed carry permit" sound sinister?

Sort the reverse of all the liberal media refering to "illegal aliens" as "undocumented migrants".

Yes, and the voters have a shopping list of the politicians who helped the cause. Taft is on his way out with this as his last term in office. I'm hoping the Republican Party stops taking his calls.

Just the reporters. Governor Taft threw this little monkey wrench in at the last minute. When the State Highway Patrol no longer opposed CCW, he had to find another excuse. He wanted everyone to have access to the records, but that was shot down.

Taft's approval rating is way down. Not only because of the CCW, but his massive tax increases. The RNC would be wise to forget this guy.

Sen. Eric Fingerhut, a Cleveland Democrat and a longtime conceal-carry opponent, was resigned to the bill becoming law.

Fingerhut is a long time communist demoncrat and supports the killing of babies.

Communists always are against the ownership of firearms by freedom loving americans because they think they will eventually be in power and the things they want to do would cause revolution so why not stop the revolution before it starts by dis-arming the people.

SCREW U FINGERHUT.

Sure sounds like it. This headline was on front page, top story too. In BIG BOLD letters! People who are unaware about CCW must be shaking in their boots.

''The governor's decision is a complete cave-in to the gun lobby,'' Fingerhut said.

It's always the "Gun Lobby"!. Never the good citizens of Ohio, who worked so hard to get this passed. It's like we don't exist, according to Mr. Fingerhut. Him and Toby Hoover, from the Ohio anti-gun organzation she heads up, can go cry in their beer.

Let's just make this sound a little more ominous, shall we? Will you get a "hidden gun" permit? No, you we get a Concealed Carry Permit.

Thats just semantics (which can be important of course) The only reason most folks carry a "hidden"/"concealed" gun, is that the "law" requires it to be hidden. A large fraction of Texas CHL holders never or rarely carry on their person. They just wanted to be able to have a loaded and accessable handgun in their vehicle. Only a handfull, if that, of states allow open carry of handguns. Even in those that do, or in those that allow carry of loaded long guns (when not hunting) you are likely to get hit with "brandishing" or "disturbing the peace" or some such twaddle if you carry openly. I know that not having to conceal the gun would reduce the hassle of carrying it.

CONCEALED CARRY IS LAW - TAFT SIGNS HB12

A revised House Bill 12 has been passed by the General Assembly, and Governor Taft has signed the measure. It goes into effect in 90 days. The Senate voted 25-8 and the House 69-24. The compromise bill includes a provision allowing the media access to records of license-holders.

Ohioans For Concealed Carry, the OFCC PAC, the National Rifle Association and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms have been working for this day for many years.

Lawmakers passed a bill Wednesday to allow Ohioans to carry hidden guns, and Gov. Bob Taft said he will sign it.

Well, we know which side of the issue THIS author is on. This verbiage is directly out of the Handgun Control Inc. playbook.

Now why can't some of that be imported into Illinois.

Because Illinois is evil.

Sorry, wrong website. I picked that up from the OFCC. I had to trace the location of the OFCC through packing.org because I didn't bookmark the association's website.

I still don't get why the politicians can't grasp the words "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" and the meaning/context of the 2A.

I mean WHAT is so difficult to understand?

No, it's a bad idea.

In North Carolina this law was used by reporters to expose the names and addresses of all gunowners in the state in an anti-gun hit piece.

Yeah, the Noise and Disturber of Raleigh used to print the names of everyone applying to the sheriff for a pistol purchase permit. I think they quit doing it, but I canceled my subscription a long time ago.

Struck me that it would be a handy guide for some crook.

The State Highway Patrol dropped its earlier opposition once the bill said weapons in vehicles must be locked away or holstered in plain view.

Stupid addition to the law. Permit holders will pose virtually NO threat to the Highway Patrol, whether their guns are "hidden" or not.

Because Illinois is evil

Well maybe with respect to gun laws, but as far as general depravity is concerned I think Florida has it beat by a country mile.
