I read the background articles on Judge Khouzam, and I have a gut reaction that she's the judge we've been waiting for.

I am hoping this is the answer to prayer and activism. A M E N!!!

This reminds me of the corrupt Roman soldiers gambling for the wardrobe of Christ at the foot of the cross. For heaven's sake! That was my first thought!

Let's hope your optimism about this FL judge is warranted. If she says that she can LEGALLY do nothing but uphold the Greer trial court transcript, then Terri will be starved/dehydrated again. She alone could reverse FL's growing image as a haven of judicial tyranny.
Maybe the judges are getting together to figure out a way to get treatment for Terri without seeming to relinquish any of their political power. They could never do such with Baird in charge. Still, the term "FL judge" makes me nervous regardless of the individual identity.

Could we have counted on the change all along? Evidently. But we could not have counted on Terri's still being alive.
What Baird doesn't get is that, ultimately, it really isn't his case to hold onto.
I take great hope from the perfect timing of these events.

Remember- the hearing has ALREADY been argued before Judge W. Douglas Baird. He announced that he would deliver hi opinion (verdict) after the Second District Court of Appeals ruled on other matters. He likely will indeed publish that decision. But would it be appropriate for such a decision to be published from a criminal court? Any precedents? Or procedural rules?

Is there no one in Pinellas County who is not influenced by Hospice? You raise an important question. Good detective work.

All one needs to know about the new judge is that she is a staunch believer in the separation of powers. She will strike down Terri's Law in a heartbeat, IMO.
To: Theodore R.
I took special note of the following, from the article cited at the top of this thread:
She's also Florida Jurist of the Year for 2002, a lofty title given to a single judge who upholds the sanctity of the jury trial system, according to votes of the Florida chapters for the American Board of Trial Advocates....
...She was thrilled when Chiles appointed her out of 31 applicants. And the honors continue. Khouzam was appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to sit on a committee studying improvements to the judicial system. This past summer she was named Florida's jurist of the year by a prestigious group of Florida lawyers belonging to the invitation-only American Board of Trial Advocates, an organization dedicated to preserving the right to trial by jury. [emphasis mine]
Terri never had a jury trial, right? I'm saying that this piece of info is worth keeping in mind. :o)
In addition, her credentials appear to be impeccable. An appeals court would be hard pressed to convincingly argue against any of her decisions.
I may be wrong, but I think that the time of Terri's freedom is at hand. If Khouzam is given this case, I do believe we'll have seen the fall of the first domino.
I think, I hope, I pray.

Yes, I think she is the answer to our prayers. Judge Khouzam presided over a case involving animal cruelty. She rejected a plea deal for 5 years in prison followed by 5 yrs. probation as "too lenient."
Ultimately she was removed from the case by the appeals court, where the case was reassigned to Judge Mark Shames. The perp in that case, Robert B. Pettyjohn, admitted to severely beating and sexually abusing his neighbor's two pet llamas, ended up getting 3 years in prison. It was a hideous crime, and I suspect Judge Khouzam was removed only because some killers get lighter sentences than the one she rejected.

No links. Just www.baynews9.com and follow Terri threads here at FR. There's more than one source and the conspiracy aspects of Terri's fight is gaining momentum.
Including courthouse employees betting on whether Terri would live or die. Taking bets on a woman already starved almost to death "twice". Hubby's silent these days. Felos is silent these days. Could be good, could be strategy.
There's a Tom Petty song we "won't back down". That's for Terri and anyone else they try to murder this way. LET US SET THE PRECEDENT TO STOP FORCED EXIT. Carpetbaggers like Felos will have to find some other scam.

This is good news indeed. Baird seemed dirty throughout this entire affair.

Terri's supporters are for the Hospice Patient's Alliance but they are pro-Terri. Believe me, Hospice of the Suncoast's reputation took a hit over Terri and it well should have. And, Terri has a bodyguard around the clock so that even her parents, etc. don't sneak anything into the room - cameras, recorders, flowers. Terri is kept prisoner in a room.
The only time Terri has been outside in years was when Morton Plant Hospital REFUSED to admit her after she starved for almost 7 days. They were obeying Atty Felos. Terri was outside for quite some time. She was not automatically admitted to get rehydrated.
Through the help of Freepers and VIPs in the Beltway, the IV was begun around 9:30 pm on October 21, 2003. (Terri left for the hospital between 5:00 and 6:00 pm and was outside being refused treatment).
