I'm only seen the car in pictures so I may be somewhat misled but I'm not real thrilled with the GTO's looks. I would have preferred to see them work up something off of the Bonneville or Grand Prix platform even if it had to be FWD.

Needs hoodscoops.

At 30k this car is destined to be a novelty, purchased mostly for old times sake. You would think Pontiac would have learned a lesson after it's Firebird and Chevy's Camaro where driven off the streets by the just-under-20k Ford Mustang.

A four-speed automatic is standard, but comes with a $1,000 gas guzzler tax What a farse.... Owners of such "gas guzzlers" already pay for their "excesses" every time they fill up - both with the cost of the greater quantity of gas burned, and with the greater total gasoline taxes they pay. MOre of our lovely double-taxation.

The very first new car I ever owned was a 1966 GTO, bright red in color, with a 389, four barrel and 4 on the floor. you could smoke the tires in all four gears! This car doesn't even come close in excitement, it's designed for the guy with money who is bored with his SUV! The GTO was a MUSCLE CAR with bare bones accoutrements.

The only lesson GM knows is that you can sell anybody a piece of crap that barely outlasts its financing, and the sheeple will still buy it. GM hasn't made a half decent car since the 1960's. And after the crappy 1982 Pontiac Phoenix I bought new, then was treated like garbage by them, when it started going bad after barely more than a year, I will NEVER buy another piece of their junk!

That red one is a nice looker, too.

Driven off the streets?
Firebird and Camaro are still around, and have routinely outperformed the Mustang... sheesh .. revisionist historians .. lol .. Id take actual performance over cheap little pony economy car with a big engine crap anyday ...
Let the flames begin.............

I know what you mean - I have a Camaro and a Firebird both wayyyyyyyyyyyyy past their prime. But, in trying to find a RWD V-8, I come up with the Mustang which I'm too old for or the Crown Vic / Grand Marquis which, hopefully, I'm still too young for.
To: Spruce
I agree, it looks like a Vermont car, not a Brooklyn muscle car.

I think the point was....
Mustang - still in production
Camaro/Firebird - out of production.
Sound like the Mustang won (and I am NO Ford fan!)

So you are saying I can go into a GM dealership and buy a brand new Camaro or Firebird? Like I said, driven off the streets.
