Actually, Mel is an American as that is where he was born. He moved to Australia as a small boy and grew up there.

"Mel is an American as that is where he was born. He moved to Australia as a small boy and grew up there." Are Americans still invited?

"Longshanks" meant "long legs", and referred to Edward I's prodigious travelling capabilities at the head of his armies. At the time of Wallace, he was also engaged in wars in Wales and France.
