I'd love to know what the writer bases his assertion that he is a conservative on?? Conservative compared to Mao?

Though the mighty United States, with only 5% of world population, accounts for nearly 50% of total global military spending, Freedom is costly.
If not for America, these bums would be speaking German or Russian as well as their stupid French gibberish!

Not one mention of 9/11. Seems this "writer" is on something. How can he even mention the US's role in Afghanistan without mentioning 9/11, Bin Laden's video claiming it as his Al Qeada's operation, the Taliban's refusal to give up Bin Laden and Al Qeada to justice, and the corresponding outrage of most sensible Americans? I mean, I've heard all the arguments from the left about Iraq, but few will make the same charge upon Afghanistan, given 9/11.

They call themselves conservatives but they're not, really.

My Email to the columnist:
I am really curious. Since you are from Canada, what makes you an expert on American politics. You surely lack the wisdom and knowledge of those in the US who follow and are close to American politics - especially the reporters here in the US who are on the Washington scene virtually around the clock.
The goal of the US is not to capture all oil producing areas in the world, and, as you skipped mentioning, the US is giving Iraq oil revenues from their own country - instead of to Saddam's bank account.
Surely, the fact that Iraqi people are not now being killed by the thousands for the pleasure of a ruthless dictator is not reason enough to do what we did. Did you feel the same way about Hitler?

Paleoconservative? I'm so old-fashioned I go back about 2,000 years. These guys are nouveau conservatives with an attitude.

A "war on terrorism" makes no more sense than waging war on evil. Neither does the intentional slaughter of near 3,000 civilians.

Besides the usual Bush hatred, I think I detected an under tone of fear in Margolis' writing this time. I hope more foreign journalist, and countries feel the way he does.

"But for those Americans whose primary loyalty was to their country, rather than to religious cultism, foreign nations"
Does he mean foreign countries such as France?

Yet another Jew-hating Jew?Amazing , isnt it? Thes guys are worse than LaRouchies; less sensible, IMO.
To: quidnunc
There are too many stupid points to address them all, but let us take a couple:
a belligerent colossus determined to monopolize global oil reserves
If this were true we would invade Canada first.
utter contempt for international laws and old allies
What old allies? France? France has said for years that she has no allies only temporary alliances that fit her foreign policy. Germany? An old comrade? Sort of strains the word old! Canada? A minor one at best. Russia? PLEASE!
Though the mighty United States, with only 5% of world population, accounts for nearly 50% of total global military spending,
In part because you Canadians refuse to do your part.

America: The Real Danger Lies Within (Dubya in thrall to Christians, neocons and Jews)
LOL!
Wait'll this guy sees how Howard The Dean is working hard to be similarly
"enthralled"! Especially with his recent "I feel like Job" comment!

This is kind of funny, since the Democrats are now running an ad that morphs Bush into Hitler. I am afraid that the left is playing a very dangerous game of "heads you win, tails you lose," in which the American people are the losers. The left has constantly been taking both sides of every issue, with answers that are calculated to evoke an emotional response, devoid of any thought.
Even Howard Dean made statements supporting the unilateral removal of Saddam Hussein, last March in an interview with Salon's Jake Tapper, when Dean was asked to clarify his Iraq position, Dean said that Saddam must be disarmed, but with a multilateral force under the auspices of the United Nations. If the U.N. in the end chooses not to enforce its own resolutions, then the U.S. should give Saddam 30 to 60 days to disarm, and if he doesn't, unilateral action is a regrettable, but unavoidable, choice.
