I would love to know what our listening posts in the area have on this. Also I am sure every flight in the ME is spooked by the AWACS in the area.
Possibly more details will be revealed.

"In Europe, charters like this are common, there are plenty of them, at all ranges of quality." Yet another perk of socialism, flying card board boxes with loose tape?

Yes, but would you agree that when you have a 2 plane charter company that has a full plane, most likely with a crappy maintenance, and a 10 year old plane, that probably has lots of cycles on it could crash on its own?I agree that poor maintenace with such an company is much higher probability than is terrorists action!
But it still needs to be investigated very throughly!
Do you suggest otherwise?

Ouch. Even with fog in the area, this is odd, unless the plane had a serious mechanical problem, or else the clouds were very thick and the pilot got disoriented turning on departure. It's easy to put the tinfoil beanie on for this one.
OTOH, 737s have had documented problems with hydraulic valves in the rudder that caused sudden uncommanded maximum deflection--the plane would yaw sharply to one side and the pilots couldn't use the pedals to bring it back. There were at least two crashes (one in Colorado and one in Pittsburgh) attributed to the problem, and I think both were 737-300s. They've all been fixed in the US, and (I'm sure) in most countries, but maybe a small charter operator in a Third World country might not have?

BS.
Crashes happen, and they happen due to lots of things, least among them being terrorism. It could be that this was a terrorist act, but YOU AND I DON'T KNOW SITTING HERE AT A COMPUTER 3800 MILES AWAY. But that never stops those spinning a conspiracy does it? Wait for facts to come out, be patient, think like an investigator, use common sense and judgement. No one here knows the particulars because we weren't there, were we?

From what I read, both planes were new. The eldest having been purchased in 2000?

What does fog matter after you takeoff? Who cares? At 7 min. past takeoff they're likely 5000+ feet. No mountains to slam into,no pyramids that high.
Interesting thesis about the missle/boat. There has been talk of Mubarek grooming his son as successor.
I doubt that sits well with many fanatics.

Today: Sunshine along with a few clouds. High 71F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph.
No fog. No ceiling (possibly).

Christ, Allegro...
Very very old 727's and terrible maint. As for Jet Blue, great airline, but they are gonna grow up in about 3 years when all their new planes need D Checks. Its a good airline, I wanted to hire a great female pilot from a commuter, but they beat me to it. She is now their first female captain, and a damn good one!
Its amazing the pure ignorance by the public on all things airline related, mind boggling actually...

Well now you see, I've had to Google something else - some HAARP resonance thingy in Gokona, Alaska. Must have sleep - will tackle additional fringe theories in the morning. Thanks a lot ;)

You mentioned Mubarek grooming his son as successor:
Egypt president Mubarak says won't bequeath power to son
Ha'aretz, Israel - Jan 1, 2004 - ... The regime of Egypt is a republican regime and there is no inheritance of power," Mubarak said in a telephone interview broadcast on state television ...
Mubarak rules out hereditary succession - Al-Jazeera - Assad visits Egypt as the American noose tightens around Syria - Cairo Times ...
Mubarak: My son will not take over presidency - Middle East Online ...
All those bylines dated Jan 1, 2004...

However , I am very suspicious of the investigation because there will be such powerful political and economic motives for concluding that it was not terrorism. Exactly!

I took Allegro to Cancun... the cabin crew all took a nap right in front of us...which I guess is OK...but I don't have a rule book.
Pretty cool to exit the plane DB Cooper style though... although I was on the ground when I did it.
