I wrote that Marx was not Jewish as he was a childhood convert to Lutheranism.
It is a fact that Marx not only came from a Jewish family, but one of renowned scholars.
However, Hirschel Marx choose to convert for economic reasons. In so doing, he taught Karl that religion and heritage were unimportant and that economics were paramount.
Marx's anti-Semitism is due in large part to the conversion and the continuing dislocation from it.

Ok, I grant you did write the conversion comments, but that one sentence, "Marx was not Jewish" really stood out as it was first, and separate, in your comments, and is really not quite true.

BTW, attributing the origin of Marx's energy for communism to his conversion by his father "for economic reasons" is not sufficient from my point of view. It has academic lines that can be plumbed for lots of publishable text, but it's not enough to account for the magnitude of what he created. Furthermore, economic incentives for conversion existed prior to the enactment of those laws...but Herr Marx didn't convert himself and his son until afterward. Thus, duress, and not economic advantage, must be factored in as the primary motivator.

Marx was, indeed, typically Jewish in his Messianic outlook. The sheer number of Jewish names associated with revolutions of all types is quite amazing. (Ayn Rand is probably the most notable example of all, the lack of recognition notwithstanding.) To mute this association serves no useful purpose, and furthers the cause of leftists.
