I ain't talking about amnesty. I'm talking about unconditional, free immigration for all able-bodied persons without a criminal record. everyone has a right to the American Dream.

LOL! You are delusional.

What is conspicuously missing is the bit about illegals pushing down the cost of goods and services.

The benefits vs costs are nowhere near equivalent.

Most likely a troll. Or just someone who likes to babble and see their words on the Internet and get reactions. I know a lonely man who cannot resist making statements that (although he disagrees with them) will get everyone riled up. It's the only way he gets attention.

They've been turning their collective backs on us for years now, Bush Jr. is just following suit. This will not stop until a president comes along with enough gonads to put a stop to it. Until then, not only will we see jobs disappear overseas but we will see them stolen from us in our own backyard.

here's an idea: legalize them. turn them into enfranchised, tax-paying citizens instead of spreading this scare-mongering that borders on racism.

Your idea was tried in the 1980s. It provided an incentive for even more illegal immigrants to come. A moment's thought on your part, instead of reacting according to the political propaganda rammed down your throat by the liberal media and education establishment, would have made you realize that would be the logical outcome of such capitulation.

Protect your country while you still have it, because you may not get another one.

But you miss the whole point, the whole reason this is not being enforced is to GET VOTES!!! Neither our current president or his challengers will dare to address this subject because they do not want to dis-franchise potential voters. As much as people got on the likes of Buchanan or Perot, I think people are starting to realize that we some "protectionism" policy in this country. We need to look out for ourselves and not be so damned concerned with a "global" economy.

Most of my Great-grandparents were immigrants, so I do feel a sort of empathy for immigrants, today. However, none of my ancestors maintained a loyalty to their former country, and none of them were breaking the law when they came in (as far as we can tell - there's some mystery about my Daddy's grandfather's origins. He may have survived a shipwreck and never actually went through the official channels.).

Absolutely none of them expected - or counted it as a "right" - free health care or subsidies for housing and food.

Go to Mexico, as a non-Mexican citizen, and try to set up housekeeping and get a job in violation of Mexican immigration laws and see how far you get before Mexican law falls on your head like a ton of bricks.

stupid mexican laws are not an excuse for stupid american laws.

Oh, COME ON! Don't be disingenuous, you'd be on here carping about that if it was the case

I'm not being disingenuous, I want to abolish the welfare state AND abolish immigration restrictions.

"prejudice comes in all forms. 100 years ago popular opinion was against Italian and Irish immigration. Today it's against Mexicans.

Can't believe your comparing legal Italian and Irish immigration to illegal Mexican immigration.

Italian's and others spoke English as a first language and fought in WWI and II. All other legal immigrate were proud to be an American and assimilated into the culture from that time period. My father and his father's generation were all Americans first!

I don't see Mexicans and Muslims assimilating at all or joining American armed services to help with Iraq. I just see invaders that hate America and want to take it over for themselves.

They choose to be some off-brand hyphenated flavor of American:

African-america;
Mexican-american;
Hispanic-american;
Muslim-american, Homosexual-american (a strange little culture)
and the rest.

Interestng story, I spoke with a legal immigrate from West Africa last summer. He was a taxi driver and I was in the back talking to him. He was happy to be an American citizen and he said he busted his bum to become one.

I asked him if he was a Afican-American? He replied with an astounding NO! He said he was an AMERICAN, period. I thought what he said was an early 1900's proud American response.

A.P. Giannini an legal Italian immigrate created Bank of America.

stupid mexican laws are not an excuse for stupid american laws.

Mexico established those laws to protect their society/infrastructure.

If you don't agree that U.S. should be similarly concerned.....
then I can only conclude that that we're not talking 'bout stupid laws...but a stupid you

I believe you're right.
I haven't heard of any immigration problems w/ Gringos in Mexico....& they're doing a pretty good job of repelling the Guatemalans, Nicaraguans, etc on their south.

The average senior citizen paid into our system for many years

The return they are getting on social security is way more than they paid into it. What they have paid into Medicare is gone in one year. I'm just saying if you play with the numbers like the author did you can make Mother Terresa look like a capitalist.
