I hope we gain seats in the Senate and House, but I want GWB to curb the expansion of the federal Government in his second term. So I hope Tom Delay and Bill Frist quit the triangulation strategy and get back to shrinking the size of Government. George W. Bush has earned my vote, but I would be much happier if he slashed a few of these useless bureaucracies in his second term. If he does, He will go down as one of the best ever to hold the office he does.

"The gravaman of our response to the exigency in which we find ourselves runs thus: we dare you. We double dog dare you, dear sirs..."

Indescribably funny.

I agree.

I also want to see a flat tax or a national sales tax; a privatization of SS to some degree; and the grants to the Arts and a whole lot of others axed.

Start sending your letters now! because after George W. Bush wins in 2004, Karl Rove will focus on GWB's legacy instead of his reelection. With a strong majority in Congress and a shift in strategy, we could see some real progress in reversing 40 years of liberal control. The only 2000 campaign promise George W. Bush has not fulfilled is his promise to reduce the size of Government, and we need to remind him of this after his landslide win in 2004

I think we need to be more sneaky about our desire to get Dean. Plus, where did "double dog dare" come from, we used the term as kids fifty years ago and I have been wondering ever since. What is this "double dog dare",,I can't figure out what double dog has to do with daring. Inquiring minds wanta know and I will double dog dare everyone that somewhere lurking is a Freeper who knows.

"William F. Buckley, reached at his National Review offices, leaned way, way back in his chair, put the tip of his eyeglasses to his mouth, and said, "The gravaman of our response to the exigency in which we find ourselves runs thus: we dare you. We double dog dare you, dear sirs. We double-triple-quadruple blind three-legged dog dare you, with all due apologies for the colloquialisms, to put forward Mr. Dr. Governor Howard Dean McGovern as your esteemed candidate for president."

I bust a gut over this. Literally laughing out loud. This was priceless. I bet WFB himself would be cracking up and agreeing.

I got curious and looked it up on Google. Not much information, except that it may be derived from "I black dog dare you." In thieves' cant, a black dog is a bad shilling.

Not much explanation about it. Funny how phrases in childhood stay about the same...it is because they are passed from sibling to friend and back, rather than through generations.

You beat me to the google!! I spend alot of time googling things. The other expression I have been meaning to google is Peckerwood. My dad called people peckerwoods. Now I know it comes from woodpecker, but why? Were woodpeckers bad or something. And why reverse it? Interesting.

This is all about setting the stage for 08. The Clintons have done everything they can to spoil the waters this time around. A decimated Party will have no choice but to embrace her next time. And the Pubs won't have an incumbant to run.

Based on the tone of some of Kondracke's remarks today, I completely agree with you that he will vote for Bush.

Let me tell you my friend, I have several friends who consider themselves as life long democrats who see George W. Bush as their choice in 2004.

Don't doubt that for a second. And it's those democrat votes that Bush will need to make up for the loss of conservative voters who feel betrayed by his administration and who will probably stay home on election day.
