Discussion Group With Al-Qaeda Threats Goes Offline (12/29/03)

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: The Yahoo discussion group at the center of many Al-Qaeda connection allegations appears to have gone off-line. The "daleel_almojahid" group posted a number of threats from Al-Qaeda, including the November warnings telling Muslims to leave New York and Los Angeles. The Daleel group was also responsible for posting a number of video files and photographs of dead U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Emergency Response and Research Institute (ERRI) was unable to immediately determine why the discussion group closed, but ERRI analysts were continuing to monitor the communication forum. Previously, when the "daleel_almojahid" group was shut down by the internet service provider (Yahoo), it resurfaced in it's totality a few days later under a changed name.
