"...then poked me on the chin as hard as she could."Oohhh...I would have been an embarrassment to us all I am afraid, as I couldn't have held my temper. Good work and thanks for the report!

I've got a call in to the gentleman with the Coward Dean/Draft Dodger sign who was roughed up in the hangar. I had to do some detective work to figure out who he was, but your clues are what lead me to him. He called back and talked to my wife briefly. He says he has several bruises from the encounter. I will be calling him and getting a more complete report later and posting it here.

Thanks for your detective work. I should really start carrying pen and paper. I am horrible with names. It will be good to have a detailed first hand account on the record.

I just got off the phone with this brave protest warrior. He's going to email me a detailed account of his experience. Here's a few bullets from his account:

He simply stood quietly in the hangar with his Coward Dean/Draft Dodger sign. He was not yelling, or talking, or anything.

The verbal abuse started first. Then the kicking, shoving, punching, elbowing, etc. He said the experience was like getting gang-mugged.

His shins are bruised all to heck from the kicking, ribs are sore from the elbowing, etc.

At one time someone tried to perform a flying tackle on him. The policeman standing behind him deflected the tackler.

He thanks the police for getting him out of there in one piece as he wasn't sure he was going to make it out conscious or alive. He wasn't happy that they refused to protect his rights.

He recalls the Pat Buchanan rally of 2000 in Sierra Vista where the yelling, screeching, hate-filled protestors were allowed unfettered access to the entire rally area. Encouraged by their school teachers and let out of school to attend the Buchanan rally, their KKK/Racist/Nazi signs and loud chants were a serious disruption. The police did not move them to a specific "protest area" nor were they hindered in any way from expressing themselves and exercising their freedom of speech. Contrast that to yesterday's event where a single silent sign holder was beaten by the leftists and forced to leave by the police.

I've pointed him to Free Republic and we might see him on here soon.

Sounds like another great freep! Sorry I couldn't be there, maybe next time. Chin Poker Lady reminds me of the Protest Warrior protest video in which a conservative protester repeats over and over to a liberal assaulter "Why do you resort to violence, sir?

>>The closest thing we saw were two little Civil Air Patrol punks.<<

I sincerely hope you made that comment in jest.

It is shocking to me that you would insult the auxilary United States Air Force (http://www.cap.gov/). Their web site explains a lot about the organization and has links dedicated to providing information to clergy and parents.

The mission of the CAP cadet program is to "build responsible citizens for America through a positive approach to aerospace, leadership and life skills."

A better bunch of young (conservative) people you would be hard pressed to find.

These kids are interested in aviation and serving their country.

They are NOT "punks" in any way, shape for form.

Because they are wearing an approved uniform of the United States Air Force, they are not allowed to be partisan. Therefore, they were probably there because their unit is based there, and they are civic-minded and wanted to observe.

Because of my membership in the CAP many years ago, a) I recieved private pilot training, b) learned and practiced leadership skills, c) studied history and military traditions and honor, d) participated in actual search and rescue missions, e) learned survival and camping skills, and f) eventually realized my dream of serving my great nation.

Take a look at the information below.

"Punks," indeed!

From the web site:

And, from the history of CAP:

"The CAP coastal patrol flew 24 million miles, found 173 submarines, attacked 57, hit 10 and sank two. By Presidential Executive Order, CAP became an auxiliary of the Army Air Forces in 1943.

A German commander later confirmed that coastal U-boat operations were withdrawn from the United States 'because of those damned little red and yellow airplanes.'

In all, CAP flew a half-million hours during the war, and 64 CAP aviators lost their lives in the line of duty.

The U.S. Air Force was created as an independent armed service in 1947, and CAP was designated as its official civilian auxiliary the following year."

Now. . .if you were calling those CAP cadets "punks" because you thought it was cute or funny, it was in bad taste.

If you called them punks because you actually believe them to be so, then you are wrong.

Either way, it's best to apologize for that remark.

(Didn't mean to blast, but these are good kids and we need to show them respect and support them. They are, after all, the future that will keep us free.)

You should have planted someone with a Hillary for President sign. I wonder what the hippie would have done with that.

A bump! and...

and then poked me on the chin as hard as she could.

I believe that is assault, or assault and battery - she wouldn't have gotten away with it had it been me. She would have gone straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. Jail.

The closest thing we saw were two little Civil Air Patrol punks.

I hope the use of the term "punks" wasn't meant to be derogatory... Civil Air Patrol was a great organization - at least for me. Many lost hikers and general aviation pilots owe their lives to "Civil Air Patrol Punks".

I should know - I was a "Civil Air Patrol Punk" as a teenager... ;0)

No offense to the organization on a whole, sir, but these two were indeed punks. At the annual fly-in the one kid after repeatedly being warn stepped out on the wing of our friends plane and dented it. He could have done some serious damage to the gas tank. Neither he nor the command seemed to take the complaint seriously. The other was more interested in walking to the Huachuca City Circle K with his girlfriend than doing the job he was supposed to do. The CAP my have had a glorious past and I respect that, but I stand by my remark concerning these two particular individuals.

Thanks, GunRunner - you nailed it down. I was a cadet as a teenager in the New Hampshire Wing, and was qualified in Communications, SAR, Radiological Monitoring etc... When I was in the Navy, I joined as a Senior at the Squadron at Oceana NAS in the Virginia Wing.

I don't know what CAP is like today, but 15 or so years ago it was a great organization...

Then you should have attacked those INDIVIDUALS---NOT the CAP.

They are kids and learning to be responsible. The leadership should have responded more responsibly. That they did not is not a reflection on the CAP, but on those particular people. If this supposed incident did happen as you describe, then you and your friends should have looked up the state Wing's contact numbers and given them a call. I assure you, corrective action would have been taken double-quick! As an aux USAF organization, the USAF and CAP do not take lightly such negative behavior.

"The CAP my have had a glorious past ". . .The CAP continues its tradition of service and provide a much needed service to our great nation. Just thought you should know.

Still a wonderful organization.

They even assumed anti-drug interdiction missions as well as flying border patrol.

Congrats on your CAP (and subsequent) service.
