"The fact that the war was won doesn't make legitimate something that was not legitimate," France's UN ambassador Jean-Marc de la Sabliere said after the council meeting. "

Annan, who publicly opposed the US decision to launch the war after failing to win the support of the Security Council, said it was no time to pin blame and point fingers over the past. I try really try not to swear but gee whiz this is really the pot calling the kettle black (so to speak)

Let's change a few more.
"The fact that I have a daddy out there somewhere doesn't make legitimate someone who is not legitimate," Howard Dean said during a campaign speech last week in response to a question about his parentage. "But this is the past."

"I think the UN has done as much as it can for Iraq," Annan told reporters. "So quite honestly I don't think today is the time to hurl accusations."
Isn't this pretty much what he said when questioned about the 800,000 Rwandans that the UN failed?

Annan is a disgusting parasite. He cares for no one except himself. He shows no leadership, and is a disgusting example of the worst type of bureaucratic politico. He make me as a black man hang my head in shame, and he shames our race, the African diaspora. The US should take the coalition of the willing and start a NEW pan-global organization. As Bush said, "You're either with us, or against us." Let that be the new Coalition of Nations (CN) motto.
To: pittsburgh gop guy
"The UN as an organisation failed to help rescue the Iraqi people from a murderous tyranny of 35 years," he said. "The UN must not fail the Iraqi people again." Worth repeating....often.
To: pittsburgh gop guy
Annan, . . . said it was "no time to pin blame and point fingers" over the past. The UN equivalent of saying "Look! There's Elvis!", accompanied by the sound of footsteps running away a la Homer Simpson.
"If you don't learn from past mistakes . . .". They won't, and stand ready to sacrifice yet the next country who depends upon the UN for protection.

What's wrong, Koffi? Too much truth? On a basic level, yes. We see this kind of crapola all the time here in Canuckistan whenever there's a public inquiry.
"We're not here to assign blame. The failure was systemic."
This sort of nonsense.
They want to deflect attention from their own incompetence and naive behavior and start commissions to "study" the problems and come back with "recommendations for improvement" that are swiftly buried. They can't deal with the fact that their own defective world view is the real problem.
These do-gooders are guilty as hades but have enough co-opted friends and a compliant media that they never end up being held to account for their destruction and delusion.
First time I've posted it on FR: Abandon the UN, once and for all. The free world will build something that works better, if in fact it's deemed even necessary.

I have only 1 question. What exactly is it that the UN has done for Iraq? I guess it depends on what the definition of "it" is.

Oh, man! Is Kofi's statement lame or what?! When is this guy's term up so we can send him packing to wherever it is he came from. Maybe Saddam can rent Kofi his hole in the ground. Sheesh.

Maybe Saddam can rent Kofi his hole in the ground. The hole the UN needs their collective heads dug out of is more biological in nature. ;-)

The UN wants to take all they can and give as little as possible. Its a big money draining organization. Destroy it!!

Amen. May it always be written in their history books that in 2003
both Saddam and the U.N. were found to be living in spider holes along with their cash and rats.
The President warned them about becoming irrelevant.....all the while he was proving it to them.
To: mitchbert
"I think the UN has done as much as it can for Iraq," Annan told reportersYou are likely correct.
The UN has reached the end of its useful life, as Kofi has pointed out himself.
