The pill does not work if the egg implants into the wall. These husbands, boyfriends, mothers, fathers, sick co-workers, mistresses, etc., will be giving these pills as quick as possible after sex. The only control will be expense.

Compared to 18 years of paternity fraud, (wife comes back from drunk girls' night out with girlfrieds or "something") there is a strong incentive for a pre-emptive protection.

Wrong. It's been known for 40 years that the chemicals in these drugs can and do cause a spontaneous miscarriages at anytime during a pregnancy, regardless whether or not the egg has implanted. The only variable is dosage, which will be completely uncontrolled if this poison goes OTC.

This is NOT RU-486. The morning-after pill has been around for decades, it's just a higher dose of a regular bcp, often admistered with Gravol or some other anti-nausea drug. It prevents the fertilized egg from implanting itself in the uterine wall. RU-486, OTOH, is designed specifically to induce a miscarriage; it will work later on in the pregnancy but the risks are higher so it's not likely to be made available without a prescription.

Just how do you think RU-486 (Mifepristone) works? The first portion of the binary "RU-486 treatment" is a progesterone antagonist that overwhelms the progesterone receptor. Progesterone of course is the main component of this "Morning After" pill and in sufficient doses it can ruin the uterine lining just like Mifepristone. Since OTC drugs can be purchased without record or limit, obtaining a sufficient dosage no longer be a limitation. At home abortions will be easier than ever (for anyone to do to anyone else).
