Hello samiam1972,
From the article: If fertilization already has occurred, it prevents the egg from implanting into the uterus, the medical definition of pregnancy.
Implantation occurs 5-7 days AFTER fertilization/conception.
It is an absolute scientific fact that life begins at conception. Therefore in probably more than half the cases, this is an abortion pill. It is a bold face lie to call it a morning after contraceptive. It will simply change the killing to an earlier age of the new life.
Those who welcome this as an improvement to surgical abortion are simply favoring one method of abortion for anothersurgical versus chemical. A quicker more efficient form of murder is still just that, murder.
It will lead to more promiscuity and all the negative consequences attached.
We are becoming cleaner and neater barbarians.

Is that the pill that makes you want to sing the theme song from "The Posiden Adventure"?

We lost. Which means that it's time to redouble our efforts. It's an exciting time to be alive since there's so much work to be done.

Google will help to locate lots of info. RU486 will prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall, just like most bcp only it is stronger and so it is a pro-life issue. This will encourage more premarital sex, it will break down what in many cases are already strained relationships between parents and teens why talk to your parents when you can just deceive them, and lead to even more STD's. Hep C is already vying to beat out AIDs in numbers infected and resulting deaths.
Deaths have resulted from taking just like deaths still occur from botched abortions, the media does not make it front page because it would damage the agenda of the pro-aborts.

Certain pro life groups make anything and everything their agenda according to the slippery slope theory.Whacky huh? Where do you think they got that crazy idea that first trimester abortion in Roe would lead to delivering babies half way and then sucking their brains out?
And why should anybody be concerned that children who can't get an aspirin in school absent parental permission can wander in to CVS and buy a morning after pill?
Pro life extremism for sure!

I can easily see some guy panicking the next day and slipping it into the woman's food or drink.

But the potential for misuse of this drug is frightening. I just read in the last few days (can't recall where) that in countries where this drug is over the counter it is now used as a regular, non-emergent form of birth control. Furthermore, women who use it repeatedly are at a much higher risk for ectopic pregnancies.
This shouldn't be over the counter.
To: cyborg
I believe the big problem will be for abortions under the age of consent. These are mandated to be reported to the police. With an over the counter pill, child abusers have a new avenue of freedom. Even worse they can force the pill on the victim.
These pills will become contraception. Why flood you body with birth control pills when you can take a pill only when and if you have unprotected sex.
Mothers or Fathers will buy these pills for their daughters who get pregnant.
How easy would it be to slip this in somebody's food or drink?
There has to be SOME form of controls with regards to underage pregnancies.

How about the monsters who use Ruffie's? Drop a pill in her drink and an abortion pill after the fact. Or even worse, a woman who "can't remember" may run, not walk, to take the pill because she is afraid of what happened.
The science may work, but a decision based on science alone is not enough. It may be trite, but this is really for the protection of the non-adults.
How about mandating the person actual consume the pill IN the pharmacy? The pharmacist would have to record the name and AGE of the person. Additionally, a legal guardian, mother, or father must give SIGNED CONSENT with a photocopy of their ID. Keep it over the counter, just set up an avenue for assuring a system for detecting sexual crimes. (not that abortion agencies have an reputation of reporting statory rape.)
To: longtermmemmory
very, very good points.
To: longtermmemmory
If this pill goes over the counter, can RU486 be far behind?
What a nightmare.
To: Canticle_of_Deborah
I believe this is RU486. They just market named it "Plan B"
It is like changing the color or dose of Ritalin and calling it something else to market to adults or parents justifiably hesitant to give cocaine to children.
To: Canticle_of_Deborah
I can easily see some guy panicking the next day and slipping it into the woman's food or drink. Yes, and it doesn't just have to be the next day. The dirty little secret is that these chemicals can also work three months or longer into a pregnancy. This poison is a chemical coat hanger anytime during a pregnancy.
To: Ronaldus Magnus
What will stop husbands or boyfriends from administering this, hidden in food, after the woman is a few weeks/months into her pregnancy just because he doesn't feel like paying child support, etc.? Will there be laws to protect these unsuspecting women? Keep it behind the counter! (or do away with it, IMHO)
