The report I read said a couple of men on the premises scattered when the troops approached but were arrested.

I posted this to the german ping list yesterday:

It has a slideshow of 9 pictures showing Hussein's hideout. Click on one of the thumbnails and it takes you to the slideshow on a German site.
One of the pictures is of a GI with the $750,000 in cash Hussein had with him.

How exactly is hiding in a hole, "waiting to be captured"? Hiding in a hole, as opposed to being in another country where he spoke the language, having a face change done.

Maybe our troops slammed the door shut before he had a chance to do that.
I recall a lot of adjectives that described Hussein. I don't recall anyone calling him brilliant or intelligent.
