Here is some Asian Times "Kremlinology" on the Bush Administration for you to chuckle over.

Newt loves the sound of his own voice and is often so contradictory that it makes one wonder if he has a core.
I remember the uproar over the National Endowment for the Arts and the suggestion we stop their funding. Newt turns around and very publicly makes a donation.
His love of hitlery no doubt stems from those FBI files and his thirst for face time on TV.

As for Cheney, maybe it is best for his heart to take a break in 04 (or go back to HAL). Afterall, who is gonna be the GOP 2008 candidate, maybe Bush will select someone grooming for that job in 08Bush is about as likely to dump Cheney in '04 as Bill Clinton is to become a priest. In 2008, I expect a pretty good primary, and honestly expect that it will be Jeb Bush who will pull off the nomination, but then again, alot can happen in 4 years.

I suspect that part of the reason that Baker is going is because of Powell's illness, but I'll take what I can get. . . . from MY brain to YOUR fingertips!

I think you need to practice 'reading between the lines,' coupled with
Kristol's bouquet for Dean. All three efforts were released within a 48 hour span and to outright ignore the significance of the timing is simply naive, IMO.

I have seen a thousand opinions, all self justifying but lets stay on topic.
There is a rumor afoot that Baker was brought into clean house, and lets say its just on pragmatic concerns that the Iraq War is thought to represent a threat to the re-election.
That said, Safire, Kristol and Newtie have apparently gone off the reservation and our purpose in this exchange is simply to 'guess' what certain public intellectuals are up to. Kristol, BTW also took a shot at Wolfowitz last week.

Baker.....he was a loser with Bush One's reelection campaign.... IIRC, James came in very late in 1992, recalled from the middle east from state dept. duties. He inherited the campaign mess left behind from Mary Matalin while she was performing pillow talk exercises with serpent head karvile. Let's not blame Mr. Baker for that one, please.
Between Matilin and Perot, I can't think of anyone that could have saved our nation from the Klinton fiasco.
