"It goes against human dignity, to present him like a gorilla that has come out of the forest, with someone checking his head for lice." An vile insult to gorillas everywhere to be likened to that animal, Saddam.

"I couldn't believe my eyes. Was this really Saddam Hussein (on TV), the Saddam that frightened Iraqis to Arabs? I thought that was a mistake, maybe a new American game. But then I remembered that he gave up Baghdad just like that... I am more than upset am angry," said Nabil Gazawi, a human right activist. WTF??? Here's a dinar, buddy -- go buy yourself a CLUE!

Kinda interesting that these people in the "Arab world" who love Saddam the most are not in Iraq and never lived under his tyranny.

"The scene of him being examined by American doctors was the most painful since his statues were destroyed." Easy for you to say, Ahmed, you weren't the poor Doc who had to give the guy the old finger-wave...

Arafat and Saddam...
now we know why Arafat had "no immediate comment" on the capture of Saddam.
Maybe we could make Arafat happier by re-uniting him with his boyfriend in jail.

I think American troops should leave Iraq promptly. Some of them via Syria, some via Iran, and some via Saudi Arabia. Spend a year or so in each place doing their usual thing to the bad guys on the way out.
Reminds me of the old Tom Lehrer song about Who's got the Bomb
To update:
Who's next? Who's next?
First Taliban got the boot
And that was good
'cause they hated peace and motherhood
Then Saddam got the boot,
and that's OK!
'cause Middle East Peace is made that way!
Who's Next?.......

Americans have to understand what constitutes a "hero" in Arab and Islamic eyes. A hero is somebody with power who wins. He kills people. He can be as brutal as he likes, just as long as he is strong.
As Bin Ladin said, when Muslims see a strong horse and a weak horse, they prefer a strong horse. Americans would probably side with the weak horse, because they sympathize with underdogs. Arabs seem to have little sympathy for anyone, particularly victims.
That means that any effort to accommodate terrorists is simply read as weakness, and it encourages them to do more along the same lines. That's why our policy toward Israel and the Palestinians has been such an abject failure.
These people have little kindness, little sympathy for others, and little admiration for self sacrifice. They admire brutal power. Which is why they follow a hero like Muhammed.

I haven't heard many reports from the street of Iran. I think hundreds of thousands of Iranians were killed in the 80's in the war that Iraq started -- hopefully people in Iran are happy we got him.
The Iranian government probably has more mixed feelings -- I bet they are glad Saddam is gone forever, but they must be nervous about what this means for the future of their own despotic power.
(Maybe a few Iranians are embarassed that we took Iraq in weeks with so few casualties -- it makes their military efforts look completely impotent.)

Arabs seem to have little sympathy for anyone, particularly victims. If this is the case though, then why do they side with the Palestinians? Perhaps because they (the Palestinians) are merely a tool used to goad the Israelis. Other than declaring support for Palestine, it doesn't seem that many Arab nations are doing much else for them. (Aside from making them live in refugee camps.)

"It was disgraceful to publish those pictures. It goes against human dignity, to present him like a gorilla that has come out of the forest, with someone checking his head for lice." I guess the truth DOES hurt.

I must now admit to having made a hugh error in thinking.
I'd stated many times on many threads that I wasn't
at all interested in Sodamn Insane being captured alive as I thought
he'd be more trouble than he'd be worth.
Now seeing the spectacular humiliation his corwardly surrender
has caused the rags, mooselimbs, and demoncRATs I couldn't be happier,
(unless my Kobe Tai clone order finally arrived.)

Many said Saddam's hope of founding an Arab warrior dynasty like his ancient hero Saladin was exposed as fantasy.
Saladin got his butt kicked big time by Richard the Lionheart.
