"
In an age where a driver's license has virtually become a national identity card -- giving access to everything from bank accounts to airline travel -- other states also have experienced license branch scandals."Drivers' licenses are one thing, but shouldn't we also be concerned about the Social Security numbers?
When SS was instituted we had the solemn promise from our government that the number would ONLY be used for Social Security purposes and NEVER for identification. It even says so on my card.
Nowadays, especially after the liberals get done with things, we have to give out our SS numbers for everything from buying (mandatory) insurance to bank accounts to licenses to cell phones.
Identity theft is only only beginning to be the problem it is going to be eventually.

And how does a non-English speaker converse with the cops or fellow drivers?
So you think people who cannot speak the language of a country should not be allowed to drive there? It's an interesting thought.

Thanks for the ping, XHog. It was good news and bad; the good, obviously, is that a huge ring has been busted and hopefully shut down for good, and it may lead to other busts. The bad is that you can bet your bottom dollar other motor vehicle offices throughout the country are harboring these sh**s (pardon my language)!! I shudder to speculate the extent!
BTW, what the heck is a hog? All I can think of is a chopped 'cycle. *<:o\

I suppose that means there are legally licensed drivers on the road that can't read or otherwise understand English? This is known as "California".

Wow! A flying gatling gun! Very cool!
Whether or not one thinks it's a beauty or an ugly old hog depends on which side you're on!! LOL!
Thanks Pelham.

As this case demonstrates it is utter insanity to employ PRC nationals, be they ones with Green Cards or H1Bs, in any capacity where they have access to critical financial, personal, technical or national security information. Any PRC national hired here in the US should be subject to the same back ground check as that required for a security clearance and even then, not allowed access to critical data. Don't trust, and verify early and often.

In other news....What do pilots affectionately call their planes?
'Hog was our term for the USAF A-10 Thunderbolt II, aka Warthog, 'Hog for short, neither graceful or good looking. A simple, yet awesome machine. F-16's Fighting Falcons are politely termed Viper's, aka Lawn Darts, 'Darts for short, due to their early history of hitting the ground. F-15's Eagles are called "Flying Tennis Courts" due to their large wing as seen from above. F-15Es, air-to-ground enhanced-capability versions of Eagle, are called Mud Hens, a bird that moves (bombs) dirt. F-117 Nighthawks are nicknamed Wobbly Goblins, aka 'Goblins, for rumored stability issues (officially denied) in its very early development.
