The mainstream media is entirely controlled by just a few super-rich mega-conglomerates, who necessarily care only about their bottom line and that of their advertisers. Keeping the people entertained and stupid helps them achieve their economic goals with little opposition from the sheeple.

Yes you're right, but there's more to it than just profit. If it were just profit, the mainstream print and electronic news outlets, publishing, and Hollywood wouldn't be so stridently left/liberal/Democrat. The motive is more than profit! Thinking it is just profit that motivates the media is what keeps this country going downhill, IMO.

Those "few super-rich" who you refer to, are ideological also. Their socialist/one-worlder ideology is the danger to the country.

Check out who bought up and started ABC, NBC, and CBS back in the beginning of television, for instance, and you'll see who these folks are. It's very interesting.
