There has been no support for freedom of speech by either the Conservatives or by the Liberals for at least 50 years or more. Why is anyone surprised? Both Conservatives and Liberals have fought for the power to determine the content of speech rather for the freedom of speech. The Campaign Finance Reform bill just codifies this struggle. It's not clear whether CFR helps Conservatives or Liberals more.

I don't believe that our founders intended that individuals or groups with deep pockets determine the direction of our nation and the rest of us peons would be left out in the cold.

Read the tax laws sometime and make a case that the old system was a good one. All those dollars pouring in was intended to accomplish a favorable result, and it did.
