Limbaugh rarely has a day when he isn't right on.

Savage can be fantastically right-on. Othertimes he's a nutcase, a liberal, or just strange. I can't listen to him every day like Rush.

So somebody is trying a live thread for Michael Savage.  He doesn't seem to be that popular with FReepers and I wonder if age has something to do with it.  He's 61, I think.  I'm 50 and I enjoy listening to his show; not that I can listen to any show three hours straight.  His approach is more visceral and reminiscent.  Reminds me of the old joke, "How many old people does it take to screw in a new light bulb?"

I'm 29 and listen to him occasionally. I really like his stories, but most of the time he sounds so shrill I can't stand it. He's way to arrogant for me. everyone else is wrong and he's the only one who is right.

It's all a schtick, like Rush and his pompous self importance-- it's all subtle humor. Savage has an incredible command of English. He's a genius in some ways.

Michael Savage's show on Friday 12/12/2003 was one of the most powerful events I've ever witnessed on the radio medium in modern times.

The outpouring of empathy his callers conveyed overwhelmed me. Here I was stuck in rush hour traffic, glued to the kind words and condolences his audience has extended to the Weiner family.

I was crying, I felt hope, I felt optimistic, I felt *human* .. All because in the end - Savage was right; we come from nothing and leave with nothing and that is the great mystery of life - One must believe in God in order to pass through the next phase in life.

This show, like I said, touched me in many ways. I'm not a religious person, I usually consider myself agnostic in many ways ... But I tell you what; after the Savage Nation today - I do believe in the bonding of humans in the search of spirituality. If there are enough humans seeking the same goal, they achieve it.

Remember 9/11/2002?

The pick 3 lotto in NYC was 9 - 1 - 1. Also on the same day, I think it was the S&P index closed at $911.00.

The human mind, soul, and heart - when come together en masse with thousands of like minds, to me - that is the true meaning of being human and experiencing spirituality. I don't believe in the Church. I do believe there is a supreme being, or power, but is he/she God, or Allah? That's interpretation.

I think that the human mind is much more powerful than we'll ever know. But I brought up the 9-11-2002 stories because like Savage, enough people giving enough heartfelt stories helped Savage deliver his 3 hours ..

It was a first in radio history as far as I know, and I feel closer to the man than ever before. I've always liked Savage, even when he rants and "gets shrill" but you know what they say, it's easy to trust someone who shoots straight from the hip rather than second guess them.

Savage is like that, and that's why I admire him. He may be abrasive sometimes but I do enjoy that at the expense of others. He's got an opinion, and it happens to coincide with hundreds of thousands of supporters.

Savage is a man's man, who answers to nobody but his own belief system. America used to be full of men like this. Where did they all go?

I used to listen to Savage here in NY on WABC but then he was let go and then was hired by WOR (Made famous by another outspoken radio host, Bob Grant). The unfortunate thing is, I don't get WOR on without a lot of static on my radio. I have done everything to get better reception but it still doesn't work.

What was it that Savage said or did that touched you so much? It is nice to here that somebody touched a spiritual spot in your soul. I know that you say that you are kind of on the fence about GOD and that you don't believe in Church but I do and I will tell you that I will pray for you.

Savage's show was 3 hours of pure Human Kindness and no politics, really.

That's what touched me.

It was the fact that Savage elected to remain on the air, and share his family's grief over their mother's last hours with his devoted listeners.

Savage continually mentioned he didn't know if he was doing the right thing or not; but he felt compelled to do it.

He opened his show with a beautiful rendition of Mozart's Requiem - I didn't recognize it at first until a caller told him .. And he was playing it in honor of his Mother.. It was just something you dont hear on broadcast media very often.

I believe in spirituality, but to each their own. I don't beleive in big, established churches because of bad experiences in the past.

That's a whole 'nother story :)

But yes, indeed, yesterday's show for Savage broke ground, in my opinion. 3 hours dedicated to life and the end of life. No politics. Just celebration.

It was definitely something that will stick with me for years.

Doc said last week that he would be out all this week, for some time off and taking time for his mom who was very ill and close to death.

After the events of yesterday I had a feeling that he would come in from a florida locale to do his show, since it's one of the biggest news events of the year.

And indeed, Doc Savage is on! Cheers to a genuine pro! God bless him, his mom, and his family!
