My view is that Gore has decided to endorse Dean to "bait" Hillary into the race for 2004, preserving Gore's options for 2008.

I mentioned this possibility to my hubby the other night. He was intrigued by the possibility of a Dean/Clinton ticket and the machinations that have occurred up to this point. Makes me wanna hurl. It's all about power with Hillary! and Dean is the one out in front. Should Dean pick Hillary to be his running mate and unify the splintered RATS? It's a death wish.

What is up with you people? Hil is not going to run!

What a silly notion you've got going there. Yeah, Gore in '08...LOL!

The Secret Service would never allow it.

You've "fleshed out" your theory. I find myself agreeing even more. The Clintoons hold the strings, the others dangle and jump. Hubby holds more in agreement with Dick Morris.

Think I'll propose a little wager to him on the subject.... :^D

Thanks.

What I like about this theory is that to some degree it is provable.

If we see HillandBill living up to expectations and not endorsing a Democrat in the primaries, and we see Dean choose someone such as Evan Bayh or John Edwards or Bob Graham or Dick Gephardt for VP, then we'll know this was just fanciful thinking.

If we see, instead, one or both Clintons endorse Dean before, say, South Carolina's primary, or if we see Hillary accept Dean's VP nod, then we will know that the supposed catfight was nothing of the sort.

And if we see Dean tab Clark for his VP, then it will be indeterminate; then it could be either way.

... Hillary ends up on a ticket under Dean,

Dude... get a life! How long have you followed Hillary Rodham Clinton? She ain't playin' 2nd banana to nobody! Didn't you see her on the 3 major networks Sunday? She doesn't like complicated game plans... it's not in her character/history. Patience is not one of her virtues.

The Clintons run the DNC not the activist, peace-queer 'greenies'. They hold the purse strings and play the tune. When the dust settles at the convention in Boston, HRC will be there to accept her party's nomination.

Interesting theory. I agree that hillary is calling the shots. She controls the DNC and the press. But it's possible that Dean started out as her tool and has now gotten somewhat out of control. I don't see her agreeing to second place on the ticket.

Still, definitely food for thought. She is probably playing more than one angle in this business.

Very interesting. You could be right, although there does seem to be somewhat of a divide between the anti-war and pro-war factions of the democrat party.

IMHO you're just as confused as the poster of this thread.

Random thoughts:

It's not hard to view this as a Byzantine power struggle, especially with the participants' history in such matters.
We can all see a different wizard behind the curtain.

Could this be a case of Algore wanting to support a candidate, (just as Hillary may)who is destined to lose?
Both have something to gain by looking like they are on board, but knowing the ship is going down.

Howie Dean has threatened to remove McAwful as head of the Democrat National Committee. Gore would like this. The wife of Monica's boyfriend would not. McAwful is their guy.

Therefore, Gore supports Howie. Howie removes McAwful before the convention. Gore gets his man in the Demo National Committee head position, and battles with the Clintonites for control so that in '08, he has the party machinery behind him.

This should be an epic struggle...sorta like I think two huge dinosaurs used to go at it. Fun to watch...at a distance.

But who knows...if Howie becomes President of these United States, I don't think I have it in me anymore to continue the battle for truth and justice and the American way.

But both Hill and Bill and Algore would all be disappointed too...thinking about having to postpone their takeover of the U.S. Government until 2012? Bummer.
