Yes, the Viet Nam movie starring none other than John F. Kerry. Unfortunately, this was the one in which he pillaged a village.

I do not see Gore running in '08 and he just kissed off the other rat candidates.

Okay, good points. But, why endorse Dean? There's more to this than meets the eye.

There other anti-McAuliffe candidates who are generally believed to be electable in a national election...something Dean isn't. Seems to me that Gore couldn't resist the temptation and will in fact play right into the Clinton's hands if Dean in the general election.

Dean isn't electable but he is the only one who is, uh, nominable.

Recall that Gore has already long since thrown in with the loony left, like Dean. Hillary's newfound hawkishness stakes out ground in the center. Al Gore is clever enough to know Dean won't win in 2004.

But here's one more wrinkle. Pundits have been talking about a possible Goldwater effect that Dean may recreate on the left. Dem Activists are just uninterested in centrism. But enough anger turns into a movement with legs. Gore wants to ride that wave. Like Goldwater, Dean will fade with his bona fides dangling in the moonlight.

Good food for thought in your post.

You know, (ahem, a little hilleryism), in a way all that has happened since Bush was elected more than makes up for the 8 atrocious years we had to endure.

This is the best entertainment I could image - watching the RATS implode before our very eyes!

LOL, I very nearly made the comment when I first heard this that somebody better hide the ashtrays!

I expect Hillary and Bill to do the same and endorse Dean, this is a political power deal plain and simple

then we'll know that what we thought was an internal power struggle was really choreographed for maximum impact

Or we'll know that she got a clue and tried to get out in front of the parade.

"Hillary spent yesterday positioning herself right of Dean."

One of the few rational posts on this thread.

That should be "site." What happened to AP editors?

Take it from someone that's been on the inside: The AP system is to get it out first, and get it coherent later. Most developing stories like this one go out literally paragraph-by-paragraph, or even sentence-by-sentence, in "takes", which subscribing news organizations then piece together on their end. Then 20 or 30 minutes later, the reporter goes back and rewrites it (including fixing the dumb typos and spelling errors), and sends it out again as one piece. Then it may be updated again throughout the day/evening if events warrant.

Never know, Al Sharpton may get the nod as head of Housing and Urban Development.

There's a DU thread titled
Clinton Portis to Endorse Dean
they intuitively are calling it
Clinton's Penis to Endorse Dean
Liberals still have a sense of humor. I have to wash my fingertips now after typing their URL.

"In a way" being the keywords there; in another way, life on earth was hell for 8 years.

Goldwater didn't really fade. Goldwater '64 led to the Reagan Revolution.

Joe: "Is that Jimmy Dean's sausage I smell on your breath?"

Al: "No, that's Howard Dean's sausage you smell. I just gave him a Lewinsky! Don't worry, I'm still going to screw you!"

The DUmmies all think that Dean/Clark is going to be the ticket now..has there been an accord reached with the Clinton Crime Syndicate and the Dean camp?

I hope Clark is part of that ticket. Wouldn't want all the WACO, Bosnian Air War paybacks, Bosnian movie deals, Acxiom privacy-invasion, etc. etc. research on FR to go to waste!

Exactly. In order for Gore to run in '08, he must ensure a candidate that will lose gets the nod. This sets up the Gore v. Hillary '08 run nicely.
