Here's why I think so...a snarky little article by Josh Marshall in the December Washington Monthly.

This forum is incredible. Y'all are sooo quick.

Thank you for the post and pings! (^:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After he finished his remarks, the President stepped into the crowd, and greeted people for over an hour. Actually more like two hours. He shook everyone’s hand- and made a point of it. He would see someone getting pushed aside and say ‘Hey Sanchez, I’m headed your way.’ And the guys loved him. Adored him. Because they could see he was their guy.
He shook my hand, too!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Encore, it was for the troops, ping!

Great link! Does Washington Monthly pretend to be non-partisan, or does it openly acknowledge its bias?

We thank you for your service, we're proud of you, and America stands solidly behind you.

That's all Hillary had to say and nobody would be criticizing her. But for her that's not what it's all about. Speaks volumes.

Thanks for posting this heartwarming e-mail, ThePointer.

I've got tears in my eyes and goose bumps, just as I did when I saw our President walk out from behind the curtain and the spontaneous reaction of our magnificent troops.

Thank you, Ragtime Cowgirl, for pinging me to these articles. I read them all and am inspired by them.

It's a great service you are providing, and I deeply appreciate your hard work and dedication.

Do they carry extra coins to give away?

Depends on the unit. This year, I received the coin of 1/221 Cav, for the stuff I did for them, out at NTC. They recommended me to the Cdr/CSM, and it was given at an informal formation. I was the talk of my unit; the only guy to get it.

Other units, it's a departure presentation for the whole tour. In 1989, I got mine from Special Security Group, as a departing XO. So both the enlisted and commissioned sides can be awarded.

And I think GWB more than qualified, don't y'all?

Hell Yes! And as a former fighter jock I'm sure he understood the meaning.

Does make you wonder if the President has "Commanders coins" to pass out.
Can you imagine the pride in getting one of them?

A sampling of some of their best articles:

Why gays and rock bands drive economic growth

Why painter Frida Kahlo--a drug addict and Stalinist-- is the new role model

Why men love action flicks where tough women beat up guys

Why women secretly love the bad books of Naomi Wolf

How Dean Martin's son shows that baby boomers learned hedonism at home.

Hmmmmm... makes me want to run out a get the latest issue --- not!

Evidence that writing ability and patriotism might just be genetic. I believe the author's father is none other than Michael Ledeen.

Funny thing is DU thinks this is funny because we were somehow 'duped' into thinking she was a soldier. As soon as she started talking about badge numbers its was pretty obvious she was a government employee and not a soldier. She specifically talked about being invited to a diner with the troops, not being a troop. As far as I can tell, everything in the letter was honestly presented.
