not a bad topic! just thought the pic fit the description of the guys it was talking about and a stereotypical male comment. I, male myself, do not agree with most guys, that the female body is there as a sexual object and am tired of being put in the same boat as males for that exact reason: guys are jerks. I hate the way we treat the ladies, and believe they should be seen as the intelligence that they have, not the bodies they have.
just to reiterate:

I wasn't saying praise their body--i'm saying if you praise them, on the whole, they'll figure they're good enough as-is and won't see any real need for change. I've been down this road more than once and what's being suggested has never worked...if she doesn't want to lose the weight for herself, she sure as hell isn't going to lose it for a man regardless of what compliments I throw her way.

Can anyone imagine an editorial like this being in an American newspaper? The feminazis would be all over it in five seconds.

I disagree a bit about the "misogyny" of contemporary American popular culture. To be sure, it's there, but does anyone honestly think that the media created these "stereotypical" women that you see on reality TV?
LOL Please.
They were there all along, or at least since other cultural developments. To act as if many women do not seek to acquire what they did not themselves earn is naivete. To assume that it had to be men/pornographers/producers that are leading the charge is silly. No one could get me to take my underwear off for a camera, even if I were drunk. These girls were there ALL ALONG.
But he is right--what can modern American woman teach any man about civility?(yes, there are plenty of exceptions)
Much of the problem comes with the contemporary American sense of entitlement. Even women of average looks(and sometimes abundant waistlines) will pick a prospective suitor apart citing his inability to compare to some phantom image of the "ideal" in their mind. And a man can't just have a good income, he should have a "prestigious" position that reflects well upon her.
Then there are the women who say "I seem to attract losers" without realizing there's a reason for that.
