On the stage with the president and Kenseth were Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Bill Elliott, and brothers Terry and Bobby Labonte. The only top 10 driver not on hand was Jeff Gordon, who had a previous commitment.

Woo Hoo !!

Since the Nascar dad is the big demographic now, Bush should campaign from Dale Jr's or Kenseth's hauler instead of a bus or a train. lol

Here's hoping he wasn't at Tiffany's checking out engagement rings. :-o He looked real scruffy this morning on the Today Show with Matt.

Would it be asking too much to see President Bush take a lap in a Cup car at Daytona?

I'm pretty sure his dad took a few laps in a pace car, but I'd love to see President Bush suit up and take a lap in one of the military sponsored cars.

Didn't King Richard run for Gov. as a Dem some years ago? 'Course I'm not gonna hold that against him. I think it was before they totally sold out to the "dark side".

Dunno if it was on anywhere. NASCAR drivers definitely are a lot smarter than your average athlete.

As we speak, Hillary is trying to cram her fat butt in a soapbox derby car.

Even meeting with NASCAR , Mr Bush wears his suit and tie and presents himself as the President, He doesnt dress in Jeans and look like a bum like Clinton did. .

And, somewhat surprisingly, he gets the NASCAR boys to wear suits too. If Clintoon would've invited them over (and if they would've accepted), you'd have fire suits, t-shirts and baseball caps all over the place.

I'm not sure but I don't think so. He ran for a Republican seat a few years ago but it wasn't governer. It was state Rep or mayor or maybe even US Rep. Now way back when he did try to organize drivers into a union. That could be considered Dem activity. The effort fell flat on it's face when Nascar said they were running the race whether the top drivers tried to qualify or not.

'Course I'm not gonna hold that against him. I think it was before they totally sold out to the "dark side".

Yeah, the union stuff was way back also.

You gotta be smart to be a driver. I'd like to have a poster of today's activities. Those cars look great sitting in front of the White House. :^)

Fox News showed about 5 or 10 minutes of it, then they cut away. I was glad to see what I could of it though.

Since he mentioned Dale Earnhardt in his speech, here's a picture of the 2 of them together:

Richard Petty ran for Sec State of North Carolina as a Republican, but was beaten by Elaine Marshall in . . . 1996?, IIRC. I believe he campaigned for Bobby Jindal in Louisiana in 2003.

Tony Stewart is close personal friends with some local (Charlotte) elected Republicans.
