Finally, Amazon.com has found someone who can afford to buy a Sedgeway. The military could probably buy one for less than the price of a toilet seat. :-)

""They will come together not as a master-slave relationship, with the human telling the robot what to do," , said computer science professor Manuela Veloso. "The human and robot will be part of the same task."
GREAT! Just what the world needs - a robotic soccer player. The soccer Moms will be thrilled when their lil' ones get roboticly booted off the field.
And the adult soccer hooligans will finally meet a worthy foe - one with the reflexes of a rattlesnake and no ethical or moral sense what-so-ever. Even better than a reptilian soccer player!

I'm not sure, but I think they said the same about these newfangled things that the army called "Trucks" that were propelled by that newfangled gawdawful unreliable "internal combustion" engine.
I'll bet there's a quote from an army sarge somewhere that swore they'd still need to take horse teams into battle in order to pull the newfangled "trucks" out of the mud.

Sadly, there's no feasible way to get the enemy to ride them voluntarily.

..reminds me of the old Monty Python's Flying Circus sketch in which scientists developed the World's Funniest Joke to defeat the enemy.
And now for something completely different......
