PING What a great report. I got another one on my email tonight as well. A wonderful, caring action from President Bush to HIS troops! Thanks for the ping, Big Ern... I wish you were going to be with us at the party :(

This is already a huge thread, but I wanted to post my congratulations to you and the fine soldier selected for this honor. Our prayers and thanks are with him and his compatriots.
I'd reccommend you download this entire thread if it ever stops getting comments and send it to him.

Apparently a lot of our local freepers and some of the Pierce county GOP folks that got your newsletter sent Brad care packages.
Here is the email I got through the family chain.
Dec. 26, 2003
Dear Family and Friends,
Christmas has come and gone. When I asked you to remember our son Brad and
his soldiers in the spirit of the holiday, I never imagined what a response we
would get. From sea to shining sea Brad and his soldiers not only received
cards but they also received a multitude of goodies that truly amazed them, but
also magnified the spirit of our nation and the spirit of the holidays. The
outpouring has been overwhelming and as Brad said. âPerfect strangers have
remembered them as well as friends and relatives, and his soldiers were so happy to
see the support they received. They are still in awe and this response has
bolstered their belief in the American people and their own mission. They are
truly grateful as are Jane, Jennifer and myself. Truly there is a Santa Claus.
Thank you!
We received an email today from Brad who informed us that they can truly see
the end of the tunnel. As of January 15, 2004 Brad's unit's post office box
will be closed and they will begin to make preparation for transitioning back
to the good old U.S.A. They will spend some time in Kuwait before they start
for home. Now we must ask that no more mail be sent to Brad as it will most
likely be returned. As Brad says "I guess it is back to snail mail or what ever.
But boy does that sound good!
'
Again the _____ family says thank you, thank you and thank you. God Bless
America and God bless our family, friends and those wonderful fellow Americans
who responded to our request.
