Two comments jump out at me, and compel me to tell the author to go puond sand up his ass:

1. I am open to the idea that he is an unusually accomplished liar and

2. Clinton was the most conservative Democratic president since Grover Cleveland: overseer, among much else, of the 1996 welfare reform, the only significant reversal of the welfare state since its inception. It is unlikely, for the foreseeable future, that American conservatives will have another Democratic president so hospitable to their interests.

My answers:

#1.You're a Socialist. 'Nuff said.; and

#2. Welfare reform got signed, only because William the Impeached and Disbarred was dragged kicking and screaming to the table to sign it. Also, if William was so "hospitable", how does that explain his emasculation of the defenses of America, wussing out on offers to nail Usama bin Laden, and being personally responsible for the events leading to THIS!

"The Bushies' second basic lie: their pretense that the closest election in history . . . somehow amounted to a mandate for a radical shift to the right."

The actual lie is fraudulently stating that the only way for an elected official to have a "mandate" is via the vote tallies on Election Day. The reality is that all you need is the office and a certain measure of popularity at any given point during your term. And if you've got the cojones, you don't even need the popularity.

Of course, any Clinton supporter using the "no mandate" lie against Bush is by definition a hypocrite, since even in 2000 Bush received more votes, and a higher percentage of votes, than Clinton did in either 1992 or 1996, when he got 43% and 49% of the vote, respectively. By the ginned-up rules of the "mandate" crowd, Clinton had no mandate to implement any policies whatsoever!

I'm awfully tired of conservative columnists who always seem to think they have to throw a piece of meat to their ravening liberal enemies.

For instance, he says that none of these books measures up to the venom in "Ambrose Evans-Pritchard's "The Secret Life of Bill Clinton," which implicated Clinton in drug-running and even murder."

Just one problem: Everything Evans-Pritchards, a respected journalist who writes for the Telegram, wrote in his book was either true, or is flagged by the author as likely speculation. Bill clinton was a drug-runner, a multiple murderer, and a rapist. There's plenty of evidence to support those contentions.

Yet what's a lie? It's a straightforward question

Since most people don't know what a lie is, I will enlighten them at the risk of being flamed.

A lie is telling the opposite of something you know to be true to someone who has a legitimate right to know the truth.

A recent example. If asked a few days ago where president Bush was having his Thanksgiving dinner the answer "at his ranch in Crawford Texas" would be untrue but not a lie since it was believed he would be there.

Now the people knowing the truth, that he was going to Baghdad and saying he was going to be in Texas to the press would not be lying because the press doesn't have the right to the truth if the Presidents life would be put in jeopardy, by the press knowing the truth. -Tom

The truth about that trip was simply embargoed for about 24 hours. The so-called journalists in the elite media should certainly understand that concept.

"Krugman has a real job, as a salaried economist at Princeton..."

Yes, but he's not a real economist. He's a dunce who also happens to hate the prez. These other so-called writers like to point to Krugman for credibility when he really doesn't have much. In fact, it must be hell for Krugman...he's so wrong, about so much, so much of the time.

The reason the rats use the word "lie" is because it has been focus group tested, probably by Carville. Bush's greatest asset is his honesty, so the rats are determined to destroy him in the eyes of the public. Lie, lies, misleading, mislead, deceived, deceptive, etc.. Just keep repeating it. Get it out there. It will sink in. That's the plan.

I thought this article had a lot of interest in it - sure, Clinton was a fraud, but some people let it affect them personally. To the point of making them unpleasant to be around. I see this now with the Bush-haters I know. One woman actually started pounding the table at a party talking about Gitmo (Her 3-year-old son was much better behaved). Then she threatened to leave the country. I'm still waiting.

I think the author misses an important part of being a "Clinton Hater". Under the surface, Clinton was doing all he could to undermine the US and our way of life, from selling missile technology to the Commie Chinese on down. His behavior was treasonous - plenty of reason to hate someone.

Her [Molly Ivins'] political opinions are as reliably left-wing as this pedigree suggests, but she prefers to present herself as one of them spunky Texas gals what's jes' full o' sass--the love child of Noam Chomsky and Minnie Pearl.

A long 'un. But worth reading for this one line, alone.

Ever since Rush returned from treatment, he keeps saying that whatever people say about you .. it's really defining them .. in other words the projection technique is alive and well .. the democrats have therefore revealed exactly who they are:

Had Enough? A Handbook for Fighting Back (the dems don't like it because we have learned to fight back)

Big Lies - The Right Wing Propaganda Machine and How It Distorts the Truth (VLWC and how they distort the truth with their big lies)

The Lies of George W. Bush - Mastering the Politics of Deception (the dems have mastered the politics of deception) .. but I do think the public is getting wise to it.

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them (Hmmm? I wonder if Teddy realizes this exposes his LIES)

Thieves in High Places, They've Stolen Our Country--and It's Time to Take It Back (YES THE the extreme left-wing democrats HAVE stolen our country and we conservatives are in the process of taking it back)

The Bush Hater's Handbook - A Guide to the Most Appalling Presidency of the Past 100 Years (Yes, Bill and Hillary Clinton were the most appalling presidency in 100 years)

Bushwhacked - Life in George W. Bush's America (Yes, Bush has whacked them until they are on the dungheap of history)

The Great Unraveling - Losing our Way In the New Century (the reason the democrats have lost their way IS BECAUSE THEY CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THOSE FELONS, TRAITORS, CHEATERS and LIARS known as the EVIL CLINTONS)

All in All - the democrats have described themselves very well - and as our beloved Mike has said, "the democrats have already reached the bottom; and they continue digging".

All in all a great article.
And you picked out the same line that made me bust a gut.

Ambrose Evans-Pritchard's "The Secret Life of Bill Clinton," which implicated Clinton in drug-running and even murder.

Yup. That's the one that jumped out at me as well. Someone would be hard pressed to convince me that Billy Boy was not as described above.

Bush-haters hate Bush for the least articulable reasons, the visceral kind that never quite rises to the level of rationality.

These "pop culture political classics" (like the ones presently topping the best-seller lists) only superficially appeal to the rational side of readers. They appeal instead to tribal passions and loyalties. Ordinarily, they have nothing but a transitory effect on the reader's life.

Sadly, there are also those who hate good, honest people on principle and hate people who are good, honest, and successful even more. I have had to sever my connections to two of my relatives (a mother and son) because it has become all too clear to me (from their slavish devotion to the Clintons and their vicious hatred of Bush) that they are of that sort (they also tell a LOT of lies in their general conversation an activity which started small, years ago and has grown too much to ignore over the years).

A strong and sustained hatred of virtue bespeakes genuine, deepseated evil, to me, and I can no longer maintain personal relationships with those who consistently display this trait, even relatives.
