US army denies killing sisters
From correspondents in Baghdad
29Nov03
THE US-led coalition ruling Iraq today strongly denied a report that American troops had killed two young Iraqi sisters near Baqubah, 60km north of Baghdad.
"US forces had nothing to do with the death of either of the young women. Both incidents appear to be murder. Iraqi police in the area are investigating," said a Coalition Provisional Authority spokesman. The girls were found dead by the US army and Iraqi police, he said.
"US forces, in pursuit of two men who had been digging a hole in a field north of Baqubah, found a young girl, already dead. The men may have been preparing to bury the girl. Later the same day, Iraqi police and US forces found the remains of a second young girl.
"US forces assisted in the delivery of both bodies to the Baqubah General Hospital Morgue," he said.
A man said earlier that US troops at Ibn Firnas airport, seven kilometres from Baqubah, shot his sisters Fatima and Azra, 15 and 12, at midday yesterday (local time) as they were collecting wood from a field some 30 metres away.
"Azra died on the spot and my other sister later died from her wounds," said 18-year-old Qusay Hasan Ali.
Policeman Hussein Ali said US forces handed over the body of one of the girls to the police "arguing that she had a gun in her possession".
Police searched the girls' home, "without finding anything illegal", Ali added.
This report appears on news.com.au.

Hmm. If I had just been caught disposing of the bodies of my sisters, I might blame US soldiers too.

Well, if the theonazis of Hamas and Islamic Jihad wouldn't be blowing up women and children with bombs, odds are, IMO, that there probably wouldn't be a Wall in the first place. I think that everyone should shut down Hamas and Islamic Jihad for good, then finish up with a peace deal, because as long as those @$$holes are around, there will probably never be a workable peace deal.

That doesn't matter - you're supposed to reflexively disbelieve everything the US government tells you, no matter how sensible it is, or how awful the folks trying to impeach it are. If a man from the government tells you it's a bad idea to set yourself on fire, you must immediately pour gasoline over yourself and begin striking matches, because the government always lies. Or so certain posters would have you believe.

Reflexively believing everything the U.S. government tells us -- is that what we're supposed to do? That didn't apply here on FR during the Clinton years. Why change the conservative skepticism about government NOW?

Why are you so hard on me? I reflexively believe everything you tell me. And so do your other eleven readers...

Why change the conservative skepticism about government NOW? Dude, you haven't been reading around here lately if you think the "skepticism about government " is decreasing. Freerepublic had plenty of complaints about government allowing USA manufacturing jobs to go away. Now the negativity has turned towards the prescription drug legislation.

sorry man, you loose me when you say ALL war is unjustified.
that simply is not true.
ESPECIALLY when you try to obtain peace through your beliefe (religion) in secular humanism. It is just not possible.

It's too late for that now.
We've already burned the boats and cannot get back to the river bank on our side, in strategic retreat.
We now have to see it through to the end, unfortunately.
Failure is not an option. A retreat from the jehadi/fedayeen challenge NOW will only signal, for example, to the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea that it can invade South Korea or otherwise continue on it's nuke course, as the United States is a paper tiger.
I assert that there is nothing particularly or even remotely "pacifist" about these horrible scenario outcomes.
Please stop reading Neville Chamberlain.
