I used to know how to 'hot link' those things on FR, right in the thread text.
Maybe a good Freeper out there can help us with the two streams, so people can view quickly....

Quite a video. What bothers me is that the setting is so casual. Like just a few guys setting off bottle rockets on a Saturday afternoon. Not what I think of as "war," with tanks, guns, and uniforms.
The trunk of the white car was open; that's how they brought their "bottle rockets" with them. Even room in the back for beer. Can we keep these SAMs out of the U.S.?

Call me a sceptic but since the fuel is stored in the wings of aircraft if a missile hit the wing at 580 meters per second and exploded would it not cause a much large explosion than what it seems we're seeing?

Use the link from the original article.

Good point, of course. I'd analyze the sun angles, and then corroborate it with the time that the attack on the DHL occured the other day. That certainly without any doubt is a shoulder SAM being fired, though. Russian made.

We might add that these video URL links might only "last" another day or two, as is the case with streaming news from Japanese TV, and in case someone reads the thread a few days from now.

Caught on tape . . . Footage taken from a videotape given to a French journalist
shows masked militants firing the missile that hit a DHL cargo jet over Baghdad
on November 22, setting its engine ablaze and forcing it to an emergency landing. The
six-minute-long footage shows a total of 10 militants, with their faces concealed by
chequered keffiyeh headresses or white scarves, carrying out the attack from scrubland
south of the capital. Composite photo: AFP

OK, the low
'sun angle' aspect lines up.
That video was from very early in the a.m. or very late in the day. Now, place that next to this news report from three days ago:
"At approximately 6:30 GMT this morning, a DHL aircraft, an Airbus A300 freighter, departing from Baghdad to Bahrain, had to return to Baghdad and effect an emergency landing," company spokeswoman Patricia Thomson said in Brussels."

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that similar video exists for TWA flight 800.

It seems to me that they're firing towards a dissipated contrail, hence the skepticism.
