This vile story is on the front page of this morning's Chicago Sun-Times. Alderman Dorothy "The Hat" Tillman and Northeastern Illinois University professor Conrad Worrill are among the most hideous persons to inhabit Chicago.

If these people win their lawsuit, how is the money to be dispursed? Will people like NBA, MLB and NFL stars get money (like they need it), will those that came into US after slavery get money? Will it only be the "pure" African-Americans that get money or will people of mixed heritage get money?

There should be extremely thorough historical examinations to find out if there are ancestors of those African tribes that sold slaves. Can't imagine what would happen if someone like the alderwoman was found to be the ancestor of a slave seller.

I noticed that too. This article is disturbing in many ways. The fact that a newpaper reports on this as anything other than ranting of a crank is not a good thing. How the hell can current investors of Lehman Bros. have any connection to seven slaves owned by someone in 1850 is beyond me.

If I ever find myself in the company of a nut like this one having a fit about "reparations", I have just one question for him:

Why aren't you in Africa seeking "reparations"?

If his main argument is that slaves "made" America, why isn't Africa the modern technological wonder example for the world today?
Maybe, just maybe, having slaves here just slowed down the development of America, and perhaps continues to do so, if "modern" Africa is a yardstick to measure by.

Tillman is wack job. I saw her about a year and a half ago on O'Reily talking about reperations. Bill and the guest asked her several times about the 70% illegitimacy rate in the black community and how that is the major cause of poor economic situation of many blacks. She railed about their children not being "illegitimate" and that the high rate was caused by white men raping black women.

Her sole reason for the high rate was white men raping black women!

What would be remarkable is to find any business that survives to this day, from the 1850s, that did not have some connection to the slave trade.

Truth be told.
They should be grateful they weren't left on that backward continent. Don't see anyone chartering flights back there. They want to stay here and get some money the corrupt way. Actually only some want bad money. Most people are hard working good people.
