Where does it say that he actually read these books?

I expect his real list of favorite books would included titles like Lolita.

I don't believe that he has actually read any of these books- this is the list of books that he thought would make him look most intelligent. The sort of list some over-achieving Junior-High kid would put together to impress the teacher.
