When the world understands that ILSAM is nothing different from this, there is hope.

Kool-Ade drinkers...sheeple...
Had to explain Jonestown to a twenty-six year old the other day. She had heard the term Kool-Ade drinkers, and now she knows the rest of the story.

I hear these folks talking about the good side of the People's Temple, etc. and what I see is people who don't want to face up to the fact that it was they and their loved ones who should have seen most clearly of anyone how worthless Jim Jones was. There were a lot of people who signed on to a lot of b.s. during these days. They screwewd up and in some cases it cost them their lives. This is terrible and sad. But take some responsibility here folks!

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years. Many people are too young to remember Jonestown and the mindless times that created it.
Apparently the survivors are as nuts as they ever were with theigh sing-song melodys of, " But he refused to denounce Peoples Temple completely. "Few movements in our time have been more expressive of Jesus' parable of the Last Judgment of feeding the hungry, caring for the sick, giving shelter to the homeless and visiting those in prison than Peoples Temple."

Seeking those he may devour, he comes to kill and destroy.

The problem wasn't religion, and especially not Christianity. The problem was utopian socialism. In common with too many United Methodist ministers today, Rev. Moore was more interested in socialism and social justice than he was in the teachings of Christ. The author needs to come to grips with that fact.
To: Scenic Sounds
The key word here is communal. They dream of a utopia and get all out of whack when it and the attendant tyranny are great disappointments.

Apparently the survivors are as nuts as they ever were.Yeah, I agree. Of course, that kind of experience is not actually designed to cure nuttiness. It must be kind of hard for a lot of them to forget.

As I recall this happened in Africa, not South America.

The problem wasn't religion, and especially not Christianity. The problem was utopian socialism.Well, I guess there was an element of authoritarianism, too. See MEG33's post number 11.

As I recall this happened in Africa, not South America.Well, I think technically it happened in Guyana, but it probably could happen just about anywhere.

"My bias," says Moore, "is trying to present the lives, hopes and dreams for the people who were trying to create a better society. I do realize that they were flawed and that they made terrible and tragic decisions and mistakes."
Typical leftist sh*t for brains.
This is the same crap that socialists always say when confronted with their murderous political lineage. "Oh, yes, it's too bad for the 150 million dead, but that doesn't invalidate the principle of Marxism or the struggle for a just society."
The big problem here is that they aren't content to kill themselves. No-Siree-Bob. Their real wish is for all of us to to first pay for the fricken Kool-Aid, and then to force us all to drink it with them. No thanks - besides, I hate the grape flavor.

conscientious objector named Larry Layton (if that name sounds familiar, it's because Layton is serving a life sentence for his part in the airstrip ambush near Jonestown Apparently, he only objects to killing when the target may shoot back.
