The sentence for smuggling should be 25 years minimum, no parole, then deportation. It is an outrage that they get a slap on the wrist and, the added insult to injury, being allowed to remain here.

Pretty scary isn't it.

If it does not happen, we will have to "make it happen" (i.e. alert/inspire the federal agencies that can doublecheck this situation in Montana)....

"Yaak area is pretty remote, right?"
Yes, very remote, as is much of the Canadian/Montana Border. There is a increased border patrol presence, now.
In fact, have been fishing at the Koocanusa (Reservoir)Lake, down a windy, rutted, steep, dirt road, and to my surprise, a border patrol agent, showed up, to see if I was a....actually I don't know what he wanted, but he stayed "chatting" for an hour. Prehaps just bored.

Welcome. I lived in Missoula, MT from 1978-1983 and visit Montana almost every summer for my yearly backpack trip.

"kindly add my name...to your Montana ping list"
Will do, archy, I have thought for sometime, that crossing into the states along the northern border, would be a pretty smart thing to do, if you are a terrorist. Even boating down the Koocanusa, at night, would allow you to bring in "supplies" from Canada. Boating at night, would help you to avoid detection from border agents.

Thanks for the welcome. Summer is great here for all the outdoor activities. Except this summer, here in NW corner of Montana, two months of smoke, from the fires. I actually wanted winter to get here this year!

"...smoke..." Yes, my vacation-flight to MT this year (Aug, 20th-Aug 31st) touched down in Helena in a reddish cloud-bank of smog. It reminded me of Los Angleles. We packed into the eastern end (Mystic Lake/Granite Peak area) of the Absarooka-Beartooth Wilderness (south-central) this year, which was thankfully clear of the smoke that was all over the northern portion of Montana from the forest fires.
I also worked on a Heli-tack crew of fire fighters for a summer, ages ago now, out of St. Regis, MT (next to Idaho panhandle) before returning to school.

Not likely there us-urper, u-super, usu-per....how do you pronounce that? Will tell the Arnbo "hello". Oh yeah, and ooops, that's not me....funny there would be more than one "Beth" in Montana:)
And how the heck did my name appear on the signature line? I need to get rid of that...what if a stalker happened upon that name and decide to target whoever owns it?!!!
