After the Yom Kippur War and the Arab oil blackmail in 1973, the then-European Community (EC) created a structure of Cooperation and Dialogue with the Arab League. The Euro-Arab Dialogue (EAD) began as a French initiative composed of representatives from the EC and Arab League countries. From the outset the EAD was considered as a vast transaction: The EC agreed to support the Arab anti-Israeli policy in exchange for wide commercial agreements. The EAD had a supplementary function: the shifting of Europe into the Arab-Islamic sphere of influence, thus breaking the traditional trans-Atlantic solidarity. The EAD operated at the highest political level, with foreign ministers on both sides, and the presidents of the EC — later the European Union (EU) — with the secretary general of the Arab League. The central body of the Dialogue, the General Commission, was responsible for planning its objectives in the political, cultural, social, economic, and technological domains; it met in private, without summary records, a common practice for European meetings.

Over the years, Euro-Arab collaboration developed at all levels: political, economic, religious and in the transfer of technologies, education, universities, radio, television, press, publishers, and writers unions. This structure became the channel for Arab immigration into Europe, of anti-Americanism, and of Judeophobia, which — linked with a general hatred of the West and its denigration — constituted a pseudo-culture imported from Arab countries. The interpenetration of European and Arab policies determined Europe's relentless anti-Israel policy and its anti-Americanism. This politico-economic edifice, with minute details, is rooted in a multiform European symbiosis with the Arab world.

Through the labyrinth of the EAD system, a policy of Israel's delegitimization was planned at both the EC's national and international levels. Approved instructions from the highest political, religious, and academic authorities functioned within the EAD's multiple commissions, implicating the media, universities, and diverse cultural activities. The EAD was the mouthpiece which diffused and popularized throughout Europe the defamation of Israel. France, Belgium, and Luxembourg were then the most active agents of the EAD.

Strategically, the Euro-Arab Cooperation was a political instrument for anti-Americanism in Europe, whose aim was to separate and weaken the two continents by an incitement to hostility and the permanent denigration of American policy in the Middle East . The cultural infrastructure of the EAD allowed the traditional cultural baggage of Arab societies, with its anti-Christian and anti-Jewish prejudices and its hostility against Israel and the West, to be imported into Europe.

I don't understand why Europe has such a death-wish. How can Old Europe actually prefer alliance with murderous dictators to alliance with America, even with all their envy of us?

Europeans pride themselves on their 'intellectualism', yet their economies are failing, and their cultures are under constant attack from the terroristic Muslims they welcome to their heartlands. This is smart? This is the result of 'thinking?' This is 'progressive?' No....it is regressing to the most ignorant barbarism.

There is no way I'll support America rescuing Europe yet again from its stupidity and cowardice, paying again for their liberties with the blood of our young men. Let that continent be awashed with its own blood. When they are gone, we'll deal with their conquorers.

If you are at all familiar with German and French philosophy post WWII this all comes together as both these countries have a penchant for allowing Philosophy and Politics to interwine resulting in disaster.

It is beyond my understanding how indeed supposedly smart people can be so blind. And its not like they live in authoritarian or totalitarian regime. They are free to choose. Whatever one might say about them, they are democracies. They are not forced like the former Soviet subjects. It looks like indeed they are selling out their own future for todays convinience.

Their national memories are all of royalty/subjects, and they still see themselves as subjects, I think. They tolerate a contemptuous professional political elite who provides nanny rule over them, because it fits comfortably with the royalty/subjects theme. Only this time, benign royalty who can be turned out if not handing out sufficient largesse.

America has a totally different national consciousness. The only way we can be defeated is if we choose to be defeated.

Nato cannot protect Europeans from themselves amid surely not their typical blase shrug ducking in urban warfare. Islam is not about to change from its perfected tactics in its war in Israel to not blow apart children and their parents in the Christian Quarters. N.K. missles aimed from Libya to Iran will be aimed at the remaining Crusaders' command centers and Christian holdout ghettos. Algerians casn teach their French a thing or two about civil order.

There was a lot of talk lately comparing Rome and US and predictions how we are going to degrade and fall. In my eyes Europeans fit the doom and gloom scenario much better: they are disarming, aging, and their moral judgments are misplaced. Not that we are perfect, but we do have some advantages over them and their meltdown just might shake us out of the same. The fact that Islamists don't target them as openly as they do Israelis and Americans is just a matter of a few fatwahs, and the war can be upon them before they know it. They delude themselves by thinking that saying "nice doggy" will somehow protect them.
